All Blacks vs Springboks - Twickenham

@nostrildamus Saw him a couple of times in Napier Tech Old Boys Clubrooms "The Nest" and he still looks in great trim. Certainly would not be the worst selection but suppose there could be insurance problems getting any release from Japan.

I’ve copped some flack for it, but you’ve absolutely got to play the B team in this game. The players give it their best but the result doesn’t matter. I’m sure the Boks will have a similar approach.
They are playing an opponent where a loss is acceptable, given the situation. The Boks have already named their squad with changes implied based on fitness near the time.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Fozzy and Jacques talk beforehand.

Big decision ahead for Foster.
Do you play the best team available for this to make sure they are match sharp for Paris or do you wrap your first choice players in cotton wool to avoid injury and send out the backups?
Given the mounting injury toll of other countries, we play our C team.

I’d be keen enough for this to be a game of touch. No injuries!

Should play a game of 3 halves type match, rolling subs, removes test status and therefore some pressure on both team

Apart from ££££‘s in the bank, I have never seen the point of playing the boks in a warm up match so close to our biggest game in pool play.
If we play our top side and lose/get injuries, it gives the boks more belief against us and weakens our squad.
Play the wider squad but put the a team on ice.
No one will give a shot about this game if we win.
Just like it means nothing that we beat the boks in pool play in 2019.

@Chris-B he definitely reads the fern. The ultimate troll wouldn't call up Stevenson in a case of double bluff.
You're only hurting yourself Ian.
I think Lord has gone over, and if Brodie is doesn't make as much progress as hoped he will go into squad, and send a winger home?
He must of read my posts by not taking Stevenson though Lol -

78,000 people have brought tickets paying a lot of money for what was marketed as a Test match between the All Blacks and the Springboks so I very much doubt it will be a game of three halves type game.

If Bell is out, I'd call Coltman. He was very good for Lyon during the last stages of Top 14.
So…the NZRU finally allows the ABs to pick overseas players and first dibs goes to Liam Coltman…in an instantly forgettable match before the main event.
Oh look I just saw a pig flying.
Nb: not having a go at you. But they are not going to choose an overseas player.

The issue with running out a B or C team is that it then means 5 weeks between fixtures for the A's.
I know we have an extra outside back with the squad which means all our trainings are basically perfect in-game simulations, but you still run the risk of rust with that sort of break.

The A pack needs a 40 minute hit out. No benefit from further exposure.

Happy with that

When is the team named?
