I hear Josh Lord has been called up
-
Bell injured. Where have I heard that before.

Who's Bell?

Who's Bell?
George Bell hooker from Canterbury (Asafo Aumua is also injured). Called up with Finau and Weber to help train with ABs in the leadup to World Cup.

Fozzie's woken up to his shortcomings!
If he was trolling us he would've called up Stevenson!
-

@Chris-B he definitely reads the fern. The ultimate troll wouldn't call up Stevenson in a case of double bluff.
You're only hurting yourself Ian.
The ultimate troll would be to call up the injured Mitch Hunt and justify it by saying he also covers fullback!
-
Hookers - they’re now content with playing two of the frontline hookers
Props - start Newell and one other.
Lock - start Lord with one of Scooter or Whitelock. Have Vaa’i on the bench.
Loosies - Finau, Cane, Savea. Papali’i on the bench.
Halfback - if Aaron Smith isn’t in cotton wool… Roigard or Christie to start. Weber on the bench.
-
How bad is Bell’s injury? Who would be 4th choice Hooker now?

I'll bring my boots

Um, fourth choice is Aumua, Bell is fifth. I assume you mean who is sixth choice

Ricky Riccitelli & Tyrone Thompson were the other hookers in the AB xv
-
@Machpants Next choice available.

Sheesh, where’s the barrel to be scraped…
-
We were already there with Bell. I don’t think he’s ready yet
-
Thompson played well tonight when he came on for The Bay. I think he’s got the goods but probably too early for him.

If he's next available he's next available.
Who else is "more ready" than the next best available dude?
-
What's Aumua return timescale?
-
Similarly, when is Brodie McAlister due back? He'd be ahead of any of the hookers used by the All Blacks XV earlier this year, I would think.

Good question. I saw something about him being out of action until the end of September. He might be playing again by the end of the NPC.
-
What happened to Kurt Eklund?

Played for the Blues. That fucked his chances.

Having said that, is Makalio available?
Wouldn't object to him if worst came to worst.

Dropped to the bench this year. He was passed by Riccitelli on form who had a pretty good season (not AB level but I think he exceeded everybodies expectations)

Surprised he even made AB XV let alone this call up.
Huge upside for the future and there is a future Crusader captain in the waiting, but it’s way too early.
-
Where’s Ash Dixon when you need him?
-
Ash Dixon is 35 in September, but hey Coles is nearly 2 years older and he's playing.

Rings a...?
-
@nostrildamus Saw him a couple of times in Napier Tech Old Boys Clubrooms "The Nest" and he still looks in great trim. Certainly would not be the worst selection but suppose there could be insurance problems getting any release from Japan.
-
Big decision ahead for Foster.
Do you play the best team available for this to make sure they are match sharp for Paris or do you wrap your first choice players in cotton wool to avoid injury and send out the backups?
-
I’ve copped some flack for it, but you’ve absolutely got to play the B team in this game. The players give it their best but the result doesn’t matter. I’m sure the Boks will have a similar approach.
They are playing an opponent where a loss is acceptable, given the situation. The Boks have already named their squad with changes implied based on fitness near the time.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Fozzy and Jacques talk beforehand.

Given the mounting injury toll of other countries, we play our C team.
-
@game_film I somewhat agree, Brodie won't be playing and will play later on in the tournament. Would not be surprised if they play the non squad members like Brad Weber and Josh Lord for this one.
-
I’d be keen enough for this to be a game of touch. No injuries!
-
@sparky Backups defo.
-
Should play a game of 3 halves type match, rolling subs, removes test status and therefore some pressure on both team
-
Apart from ££££‘s in the bank, I have never seen the point of playing the boks in a warm up match so close to our biggest game in pool play.
If we play our top side and lose/get injuries, it gives the boks more belief against us and weakens our squad.
Play the wider squad but put the a team on ice.
No one will give a shot about this game if we win.
Just like it means nothing that we beat the boks in pool play in 2019.

I think Lord has gone over, and if Brodie is doesn't make as much progress as hoped he will go into squad, and send a winger home?
He must of read my posts by not taking Stevenson though Lol
