Thompson played well tonight when he came on for The Bay. I think he’s got the goods but probably too early for him.

If he's next available he's next available.

Who else is "more ready" than the next best available dude?

Similarly, when is Brodie McAlister due back? He'd be ahead of any of the hookers used by the All Blacks XV earlier this year, I would think.

Good question. I saw something about him being out of action until the end of September. He might be playing again by the end of the NPC.

Played for the Blues. That fucked his chances.

Having said that, is Makalio available?

Wouldn't object to him if worst came to worst.

Dropped to the bench this year. He was passed by Riccitelli on form who had a pretty good season (not AB level but I think he exceeded everybodies expectations)

    @ACT-Crusader

We were already there with Bell. I don’t think he’s ready yet

Surprised he even made AB XV let alone this call up.

Huge upside for the future and there is a future Crusader captain in the waiting, but it’s way too early.

Ash Dixon is 35 in September, but hey Coles is nearly 2 years older and he's playing.

@nostrildamus Saw him a couple of times in Napier Tech Old Boys Clubrooms "The Nest" and he still looks in great trim. Certainly would not be the worst selection but suppose there could be insurance problems getting any release from Japan.

    Big decision ahead for Foster.

Do you play the best team available for this to make sure they are match sharp for Paris or do you wrap your first choice players in cotton wool to avoid injury and send out the backups?

I’ve copped some flack for it, but you’ve absolutely got to play the B team in this game. The players give it their best but the result doesn’t matter. I’m sure the Boks will have a similar approach.

They are playing an opponent where a loss is acceptable, given the situation. The Boks have already named their squad with changes implied based on fitness near the time.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Fozzy and Jacques talk beforehand.

Given the mounting injury toll of other countries, we play our C team.

@game_film I somewhat agree, Brodie won't be playing and will play later on in the tournament. Would not be surprised if they play the non squad members like Brad Weber and Josh Lord for this one.

I’d be keen enough for this to be a game of touch. No injuries!
