christie is an obvious surprise...dont get giving guys one game off the bench and then gone, surely ease them in to bench and then start and then try someone else

anyone else think ardie could have been given a rest? im the first one to say players should be given a few games in a row to settle etc...but he's got nothing to prove and there are still question marks over who covers him if he picks up a niggle

I think it's much more valuable keeping the core of the team and plugging a few newbies in to get a taste. Hopefully our cohesion won't suffer too much. But it probably will

A bit early in the week to start this thread, but I am interested in some squad ponderification this week.

This is where I think Foz et al have some scope to tweak and test a bit.

    Stuff I'd like to see:

Williams get another crack. Either starting or bench. I think he gives us something different off the bench later in the year, but wouldn't mind him starting this time. Williams 1, Groot 17.

Could give Coles some game time. Start Samisoni. Coles to bench.

Someone (@Chris ?) suggested Newell maybe on the bench. Would be happy with that.

Barrett has a break. ("Drop" MOTM!) Start the old guys, Lord comes off bench.

Assuming Cane comes back and Ardie stays at 8, then 6 and bench is open for some rotation for me. Want to give Jacobsen some time at 8, so bring him off the bench and start Finau.

Start Roigard, Ginge on bench. Christie playing for his spot.

Keep Richie at 10, ALB at 12, Roane at 13. Try McLeod on bench.

Jordan at 15, Telea and Narawa on the wings (Telea can play both sides huh?).

    DMac bench.

I'd hope that's not too much rotation.

Back to the 1st XV (with one or two rotations on the bench) at Twickers v Jaaps.

    - Booboo Fozzie
    1 Williams Williams
    2 Taukei'aho Taukei'aho
    3 Lomax Laulala
    4 Retallick Retallick
    5 Whitelock Whitelock
    6 Finau Finau
    7 Cane Cane
    8 Savea Savea
    9 Roigard Christie
    10 Mounga McKenzie
    11 Telea Fainga’anuku
    12 Lienert-Brown Lienert-Brown
    13 Ioane Ennor
    14 Narawa Stevenson
    15 Jordan Jordan
    16 Coles Coles
    17 De Groot Tu’ungafasi
    18 Newell Newell
    19 Lord Vaa’i
    20 Jacobsen Jacobsen
    21 Christie Smith
    22 McLeod McLeod
    23 McKenzie Mounga

    16 of 22.
    9 of 15.
    7 of 8.

Fozzie went close to getting it right.

Ha ha. Lot of posters with egg on faces with the selection for this weekend.

Color me egged. Still, I hate headlines that Present something as a fact only for the article to turn out as speculation.

@Canerbry did strike me as wishful thinking on the Stan commentary guys part to claim the 83,000 turned up to support the Wallabies. There were heaps of kiwis there, for every gold jersey there was a black one.

One pattern with the ABs is giving rookies a game off after their debut.

Maybe a strategy by the coaching staff to have a good look at new players in the AB environment & let them settle in slowly by managing their game time?

@Victor-Meldrew Genius. Who woulda thunk the best way to manage game time was to just have next to none of it.

That's an interesting 23 - mix of experience and newbie plus a new midfield. Great that SS has a start but not convinced about Christie. As someone mentioned above, perhaps he's in last chance saloon.

Must be a bit of a luxury for Foster and co. to be on the front foot and have the headroom to try new players and new positions. We seem to have been scrambling to to keep up with other sides save series for years.

Foster confirms flanker Ethan Blackadder injured his calf a few weeks ago, just how long he is sidelined for isn’t clear.

Sounds like Jacobson can pack his French dictionary. Finau just has to do his basics well also to be on the plane.

lol at the thought of the average Eddie Jones team after he's been in charge for 5 years

    Props who can't scrum
    Locks who can't maul
Add 12 loig backs and we're set like a jelly!

Who is next best scrummaging TH after AAAAAAA and TTTTT?

The ALB / Ennor midfield as far as I can recall have only played about 15 or so minutes together. If they can maintain shape I actually don’t mind the combination of skills.

Ennor looked good when he came on in both the Argies and Boks test. ALB looked slim and quick last weekend.

For me the test will largely be about what the Christie and DMac combo does and how Will Jordan comes into the line as a playmaker.

Could really cause some headaches for selectors if it clicks with Stevenson - two very samey players that can cause headaches for the opposition chiming into the backline.

@ACT-Crusader It's certainly the biggest game Ennor has started in. So far his other test starts have been USA, Italy and Japan. As I have said, he could play the role as the direct midfield runner à la JB. He could swap around with ALB depending on the move called.

Awful run of injuries for Ethan.

Hopefully, he'll recover quickly and rampage through the NPC!!! 🙂

If Smith doesn't play his last ever test in NZ that also happens to be at his home ground, then the ABs have no soul

    he'll always have the disableds..
