Lynagh v Ireland & Campo v NZ are the two things that stand out

If Lynagh didn't get that try, do you think NZ would've won the cup?

I'd say probably. But we were too long in the tooth, the warning signs had been there after a number of flat performances earlier in the year IIRC. Ripe for the picking and unfortunately ran into an ascendant Wallabies side

You'd assume Ireland (not in Dublin) would've been easy enough. So it's a question of if we'd beat England a second time in the tournament

That pool game was turgid until the Jones try. From memory it felt like the AB's were regressing the longer the tournament went

We probably still had enough firepower up front to match England & Ireland like in the opening game v England. But Campese's try summed up in one play just how slow and dire our backline was.

Can't remember if Jones would have been available for the final.

Ironicallly, I suspect we would have been 2/2 in 1991 if Ireland had made it, perhaps undeservedly, but would always take it...

Classic line from the loss to Western Samoa

'Thank God we were only playing the Western part'

Cheers, I was rushing and the youtube title was wrong. It's a correct video now

For some reason world rugby took down lots of their videos of the old tournaments. Very few highlights compared to a few years ago

For this game I could only find a shitty upload of the full match, no highlights

From a Scottish pov the only dour game was the semi v England at Murrayfield. The Scots had breezed through the home pool games inc Ireland, and scored 17 tries in the process. S tries saw off Western Samoa in the QF, but a dour slugfest v England and that (in)famous Hastings missed pen in front of the posts saw them slip up making the final. It was a bit of revenge for England after the 1990 Grand Slam.

My lasting memory is the quarter final between Ireland and the Wallabies. The belief and execution to score at the death had me convinced they would win it.

Obviously for an Englishman, Big Gav missing that kick was great, but seeing the poor guy's post match interview was hard going. So much emotion.

It's a shocker but I didn't realise it was so early in the match (22 mins according to the commentary)

So they had plenty of time to win the match

If only he managed to do the same to Zinny who would have been banned for six months for that tackle these days
