    It's the Wallabies coached by EJ and we're still coached by Foster. I won't be counting any chickens until the Bled is behind lock and key.

    It'll be a 50-point flogging in Melbourne and a 30-point flogging in Dunedin when you run out your B team.

    Nice try Nick. I still remember flying to Syd for RWC 2003 semi-final and being stunned by the Wallaby turnaround šŸ˜€

    I’m picking 1-1 split but I hope we take the first match. Wallabies always compete against us, they know our game, our players, we play a similar fluent game and no matter how dominant the AB’s have been I’ve never not known a Wallaby side who weren’t confident of winning ie, there is no fear or being over awed.

    The kiwi munters ( from Palmy and the Hutt if I remember rightly ) that I worked with in Sydney at the time thought that game was in the bag too. Saying things like ā€œsee youse in the finalā€ to the Poms we all worked with.

    Those comments aged pretty badly.

    Similar sentiments in 1999 and 2007. We were guilty of looking too far ahead

    Stevenson gets to hold tackle bags instead of having a run in Japan with the AB XV. šŸ™„

    As has Roigard, Finau, McLeod.

    I wonder whether we’ll see any of them.

    I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

    @gt12 those players were in the full squad whereas Stevenson was only injury cover.

    I was at the 50 point drubbing in Sydney, and then had the pleasure of watching the RWC loss in a Bondi pub packed to the rafters with non-kiwis delighting in our demise.

    Good times.

    @KiwiMurph

    I know. Which is why they are still there to hold tackle bags.

    @taniwharugby

    Thinking Foster & co are pretty settled on their RWC squad bar 2-3 positions and who plays where, and wants to give those players as much game time as possible.

    I expect the same starting XV as a giant the Spingboks.

    @voodoo we watched in a house, with half the crew Aussies, then headed to Bondi after. I was the guy standing in front of the cash machine at Bondi hotel, saying "yo mama" and refusing to move for any Aussies that came near. Woke up on Bondi beach about 7am on my own.

    Good times.

    I expect a conservative selection for this one, maybe Finau and Roigard off the bench, but no more than that.

    Funny thing is, despite Australia's woes at the moment come RWC time they have a far better chance of getting to the SF than NZ, SA, France or Ireland

    Wins against Portugal, Georgia, Fiji, Wales & Argentina sees them in a likely showdown against the winner of Ireland/SA v France/NZ

    I'd rather be in Eddie's shoes than Fozzie's

    Despite the losses, coach Eddie Jones has fired a warning shot at the All Blacks, before the sides meet for the first Bledisloe Cup match on July 29.

    "While it seems doom and gloom at the moment, it's not, he said. "Beating a side here is a fair bit of optimism that we'll be able to change fairly quickly in the next couple of weeks.

    "If I was the All Blacks, I'd look out."

    He sounds like a 13yr old challenging a classmate to a fight after school round the back of the bike sheds

    Coach talks up his team and doesn't suggest they are simply going to get flogged this weekend ...

    Too many people suggesting exactly this for me to be comfortable. I have no doubt we are the better team (based on what witnessed so far in the RC) but this match is never a foregone conclusion.

    Sounds like he’s been taking notes off Brendon McCullum

    Nah, screw that weak-ass attitude, we are going to fuck them up in Melbourne.

    Steamroll right over the top of them, penalty-try scrums, rolling mauls from halfway, scything runs for 70m tries - likely point-a-minute stuff.

    Heck, Will Jordan might outscore them on his own.

    Probably. Australia are one of those teams that if we are up by 48 at half time, I'll still be slightly concerned.

    I'll be more concerned if they come out all fire and brimstone at the start, and get ahead of us. The rise when they play us, and their backs are against the wall
