Surprised that Dom Gardiner hasn't made the AB XV. Wasn't a fan of his initially but he impressed against Ireland A last year and was looking in good form in SR before he got injured.
Agree he was impressive last year and he made a good enough fist of things when he filled in at lock for the Saders this year, but I thought he let himself down a fair bit when he got a few games in a row at six. He seemed to fall out of favour (I don't think he was injured again) with Roberston selecting Lio-Willie and Havili Talitui instead (two hard working but limited players).
Nah he got injured and only made his return last weekend.
Did he? I asked a couple of weeks ago about whether he was injured but nobody seemed to know.

Yeah, there was not much news on it. I remember him walking off injured a few weeks ago, I think it was a hammy if memory serves.

It definitely is.

He has been training with the squad the last 5 weeks and played some club just not selected.
Ok fair enough, I stand corrected. I was sure he limped off. Was there a reason given for his non selection? Didn't think he had lost form.

Interesting that means Leon doesn't have much to do with the abs until half way through RC
Suspect he won't have much to do with the All Blacks until next year...
D'oh!

@Stargazer Phew. Hopefully someone will keep checking the NZRFU media sites and will be able to advise when they correct this error. Will also give a further indication whether (or how closely) they are monitoring this site as well!

They have corrected it!

@SBW1 Morgan has been mud all year for the Canes. As soon as Brett Cameron came back in we looked a lot more organised.
Probably because the Umaga-Jensens don’t really warrant a mention on form. They’ve probably selected the right guys at centre even though Goodhue / Nankivell are leaving our shores.

Back to Dom Gardiner, I watched the SR final again and was really impressed with the impact he had when he came on. His work rate was immense and he put in a number of dominant tackles. Really rate this guy, and is unlucky to miss out on this team imo.

@akan004 I find my opinion on Gardiner as a player is fluctuating somewhat. When he first came on scene I was a bit meh, then he had the purple patch at the end of last year and I thought wow, this guy could be one hell of a player. Then he played lock this year and thought yep, can't wait to see what he can do at 6. Then he played 6 for a few games and I hate to say it, but I was pretty underwhelmed.
I didn't watch him all that closely on the weekend so I have no opinion on how he went.
