@mariner4life almost everyone loves an upset, even at club level, last year in scrum training our 2's scrum demolished the 1's, was a huge wake up call for the 1's, a couple of people got a call up and other stepped up their game

sometimes losses dont spark people into life...they still have their job...someone who can actually take their job shows them up one on one....that can do wonders

too many years ago, the Qld State cup was Country rep sides playing against Brisbane Premier Grade side, to mostly predictable results.

We were actually leading one game at halftime, and the word is their Coach told them if they lost none of them would play prems again that year. Fuck we got pumped in the 2nd half. A large polynesian who went on to play many games for the Brumbies at #8 palmed me so hard i still have dents in my chest.

Threats to spots is still the greatest motivator

we won the fight though (not me obviously)

@mariner4life exactly why the old adage about being harder to get out of the AB's than into it is so frustrating

@mariner4life said in All Blacks XV:

an AB XV starting loose trio of Finau, Sotutu and Harmon would give our starting AB trio an absolute bath.

oh for the days of the AB trial

Well they would compete, but hardly a bath, Jacobson, Cane and Savea would be better!

Hang on, is Jacobson the starting 6? In contention, but starting 6?
As for who would win, don't know, but would love to see it!

Before he started getting injured all the time, I recall reading Jacobson was widely known for having the hardest shoulders going.

Looks to be getting back to his best, so I wouldn't be averse to him against teams like Aus/Eng.

@Bones He was discarded pretty quickly in 2021, so I wonder if the coaching group will see him as not being an option. They've done that with a few players. On the other hand, Ryan and Schmidt are there now.

I think Jacobson is quite capable of starting at 6, and just saying I think that 3 would be at least as good as the opposing 3 named. I ctaually am a real fan of the idea of Finau at 6 in ABs though, but that wasn't what post was about.

Oh I see I thought by starting 6 that meant who is seen as the incumbent-my bad.

It looks like the All Blacks XV squad won't be announced live at the Breakdown, because the next segment is about SRP. Weird.

Happy to see Numia make it after a VG SRP. Also IWL. Bit surprised but he was VG earlier in the year

Cameron should be there too. I'd prefer him to B Barrett but just never had enough game time. Likewise Proctor

9 canes in total. 5 ABs. Good base for Laidlaw to work with next year (minus Savea)

Maybe Flander could be considered unlucky. Along with Delany who maybe is one for next year

@Winger yeah I agree, Flanders had a big year but I feel like he's going to come into his own in 2024. Guys like Sangster and Delany are in the same boat IMO.

Good to see Love get in despite not playing, we all know the quality that he brings from fullback so hopefully he can get a few minutes at this level before the NPC.
