Could have been done and dusted in session 1

Shane Warne's epic sledge at Paul Collingwood comes to mind
"didn't you get an OBE? For scoring 5 at The Oval? That's embarrassing"
The best Ashes sledge was to Mark Waugh from James Ormrod:
""Mate, what are you doing here? There's no way you're good enough to play for England." To which Ormond replied: "Maybe not, but at least I'm the best player in my family."

I think England have learned one lesson from Old Trafford
There’s shit weather on the way and they’re trying to take Mother Nature out of the equation

@TeWaio You can get docked WTC points now as well which does have an impact. I am assuming though Ashes matches fall under this
I realise that, and it even cost Australia a place in the 2021 WTC final that we won. But has it improved their (or anyone's) over rate? Has it fk.....need harsher punishment!
They didn't even get through 80 overs today.

Mind you, over rates are affected by the number of wickets to fall. 11 in the day 🤷

@Catogrande Fair enough.
I didn't realise he'd been around that llong. In my recollection he was more of a shooting star (hence Bond comparison). Outstanding tour of Australia in 1970. If you take that series out his stats are good but not great.
Constantly injured as well.

Right, but the 90 overs regulation factors that in, on average 8 wickets a day.
So 3 more than that today, at 3 mins per change, is 9 minutes, so two overs. Still so far short, even with the innings break. I'm sat here grumpily typing this at 9.47pm and it's still light outside ffs

It's the fucking double nostril blow out that makes it
And the whole macgyver look
It's fucking brilliant. Before the nanny state took over

I'll put this here ...
Ian Botham was an all action test legend and absolutely tailor made for ODIs.
…..but in 102 matches he never took a Michelle or scored a hundred. I find both these stats quite amazing.
I know the game was a bit more…..sedate in those days but still. Flabbergasting.

@MN5 From memory Botham was mostly batting in the middle order. And on average run rates up until about the mid 90's anyone batting below #4 rarely had a chance at an ODI ton.
He opened in 24 of his 102 ODIs, a bit of a pinch hitter.
Kapil Dev and Imran Khan got an ODI hundred each.
I do get your point though, he played in the era where 220 off 50 overs was a pretty powerful total.
In saying all of that I’m still really surprised a guy of his class never managed either milestone once though. He was hardly Bruce Edgar or Geoffrey Boycott in terms of strike rate and certainly had a knack of snaring loads of wickets……

What was Labuschagne crying about there? Looks like spoke to the umpire?
I had the same thought then decided he was just berating himself and having a little cry inside.
