Ashes 2023

Another cracking day of test cricket
-
Waking up to that scorecard, looks like a lot of starts from Australia, but England stopping them from becoming big scores.
Probably not a bad total after being sent into bat, but looks like it could have been bigger with Australia batting down to number 10.

This is the first series that I have seen much of him. And for a guy with a big reputation, I haven’t been impressed with him.
He has a very punchable face too

Weird scorecard. Five of the top six getting really handy starts but none of them going on.
VERY un Australian, you’d bank on one of them being unbeaten on three figures at the end of the day……
I’m assuming Stokes is too injured to bowl ? It’s a race between him and Ali to join the 200/3000 club. Only 15 have done it, three of them kiwis.

They won 1 test in 17 before BMAC.
England arent Minnows but they were an incredibly poor side
According to Howstats it was actually 2 wins in 18, both v India. Interestingly in one of them, the recently much maligned Bairstow scored a ton in both innings.
Edit: however your point stands.

So many set batsmen getting out is interesting. I have seen any of the cricket, so would be interesting to know if it was mental errors or the Aussies toughing it out in difficult conditions and getting caught out by a good one.
Neither description fits that well.
It was mostly a batting day but the occasional ball still did something.. the bowlers were never out of it. Good use of the 3rd umpire today by England on the lbw shouts. Despite the sun being out the was still a bit of swing every now and then. Just a good even day
