    For Australia, it'll be interesting to see if Labuschagne and Smith finally front with the bat. One top innings aside from Smith, they've mainly been AWOL. Likewise if Cummins has learnt any captaincy lessons.

    Warner might jam one, but only on the stopped clock basis.

    As for England, their bowling attack looks about right. Just the bewildering choice of concrete shoes Bairstow for keeping duties to back them up. Some good keeping analysis from Dinesh Karthik in the buildup.

    Ali at 3 is a puzzler. I imagine there would have been large odds on that selection two months ago...

    @MN5 the last Test was as well. And even better, they show the full build up each day as part of the coverage unlike the Spark Sport corner cutters...

    James Anderson has played almost a hundred more test matches than the great Sir Paddles.

    England play more tests, more cricket played nowadays etc etc but hats off, that is an exceptional achievement.

    Still less Michelle’s than the great man though.

    Good review by Wood & Stokes. England needed that.

    600th Test wicket for Stuart Broad.

    Australia’s ahead in a competitive first day. Pitch looks the slowest so far this series.

    Stuart Board got for head for his 600th Test wicket.

    And his popstar girlfriend, Mollie King, has promised him a treat as well.

    Waking up to that scorecard, looks like a lot of starts from Australia, but England stopping them from becoming big scores.

    Probably not a bad total after being sent into bat, but looks like it could have been bigger with Australia batting down to number 10.

    @Donsteppa

    This is the first series that I have seen much of him. And for a guy with a big reputation, I haven’t been impressed with him.

    He has a very punchable face too

    @KiwiPie

    They won 1 test in 17 before BMAC.

    England arent Minnows but they were an incredibly poor side
