A definite step in thew right direction
The first step was getting rid of the fool running Aussie rugby. Thats now been done
2nd step is to set up a new super rugby board with competent board members. Hopefully this will be done. one key step for this Board will be to find a competent CE.
Finally, the teams must be evened out in some way. One team always winning and weak Aussie teams is a disaster that will mean super rugby will slowly die. My view is Aust must reduce teams. And NZ must find a way to more fairly allocate player talent

While the ATO is demanding its directors pay up, the club’s chairman, Paul Docherty, insists the team is financially viable.

How about if there are significant injury breaks (30s) then the player has to go off, and they have to have two weeks off as a minimum stand-down period.
Even better, ban replacements altogether except for injury, with the same two week stand-down period.
Finals games would need something different ...

@Tim I think injury breaks should be limited to 30s, after which the ref tells the player he must leave the field in the next 30 sec (serious injuries aside, as these are usually clear) as there is too much gamesmanship around this, tying laces, water breaks etc reckon it would reduce alot of the BS we see.

not sure it would - if it's only one game in the season, I can't see people gaming it too much. What you're trying to achieve is changing body shape and aerobic focus over power. Or at least making power a risk - if the game speeds up, yo ucould be scuppered (see Bokke NZ last year over there... early injuries and they got run off their feet).

Rugby Vic are currently building a new "centre of excellence" up at monash uni (no where near any of the major clubs in melbourne)....but doesnt look like it has much of a stand so can't even take games somewhere like that to save money....and im not sure how many rectangular stadium with smaller capacities there are in melbourne

Saw this discussed in Aus rugby sire, and seems there no decent rectanguler stadia in Melbourne.
Interesting as I think the Rebels look a reasonable team this year. -

I would add no waterboys on field (except in extreme weather etc) but a player needs a drink (or advice from coach which it often is) let him go to sideline for a quick drink.

Interesting as I think the Rebels look a reasonable team this year.other than aami the only ones i can think of would have a athletics tracks...missed a trick not building even a 5k stand with the centre of excellence

Wonder if New Zealand is trying to do what South Africa is doing. The tour of the Crusaders early in 2024 will give them exposure to the Irish and UK teams, wonder if it is a way of testing the waters. The two trial games in Japan could also be the start of integrating some of these competitions.

@SBW1 NZR have made no secret they looking to get closer relationship with Japan, think the top 2 in super playing the Japanese teams preseason is in place for a few years. JRU paying the costs fro Blues& Chiefs I believe.
Pretty sure the Crusaders Leinster is just a one of money spinner.
But there seems to be World club champs soon anyway, so that will stir it all up . -

Probably as you need more people watching to get more money I guess. Not just bums on seats, but sponsorship etc.

If it was that simple I think they would? I find it a little hard to comprehend that all the people charged with running game in NZ/Aus, and the states /province/clubs I think they would be pushing for it. I am like you and prefer a full season, but I don't have an inside to finacials etc.
But even a longer season or whatever isn't going to get more money in game is it? I think they are trying to expand into new markets etc to do that very thing as unfortunately the day the game went professional, money became overiding factor. -

I'm not sure you've been paying attention to their demonstrated competence thus far.
Yep mate, just not sure I can claim to know if they are or aren't competent. As I say, I don't claim to know the full costs etc, and all the ins and outs of running the comp. I learnt a long time ago it's easy to be smarter than the people who actually do the job, when I don't actually do anything to show I right or wrong.
That's not a crticism of anyone having an opinion etc, as I reckon if you asked the posters on here they would all run it different etc, and be absolutely convinced the rest who wanted to do it other way were idiots.
