@Duluth and not mention a spate of injuries
Still think Angus Ta’avao was an average selection from day dotAngus is a tighthead, EDG a loosehead. They weren’t interchangeable squad members.
Ross, ST and Ta’avao were the form front row in Super last year. The selection was merited. -
@Stargazer that was a critisim of James Lowes as well ,i do wonder however if all the other tools SS brings to the table outweigh any defensive issues

I say once more...
... enjoyable game if footy.
Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.
Not only selling something, but using it too!! I loved the game, like you really enjoyed it, seeing all those skills etc being displayed.

@Crucial theres a big gap between Super form and international Rugby and Ta’avao was exposed big time
Bit of an overstatement don’t you think?
Your comment was about initial selection and if that is on form then he deserved it. I agree that he doesn’t reach the same heights around the field and there are better options but that needed testing. When playing against our other front row options he often dominated. -

Poor defence didn't hold back Reece from being selected for the ABs.

Great try from Gilbert. IMO he's been good.
He did miss some important tackles.

Yeah, better defence and that could have been one for the ages

Great counter-attacking from Chiefs. Thought several players had a shoddy match despite the score. Slater and Sowakula were error prone as was Vaai who needs a rest.
I was surprised that Lord replaced Ah Kuoi as I would have subbed Vaa'i. Agree about Slater and PGS.
And what was up with Ratima when he came on? Seemed slow and indecisive.
A very late sub so maybe an injury niggle.
Weber was my mom.
Weber's passing early was very laboured and inaccurate. He got much better.
-
On BOK, while I agree that he is NZ's best ref (hardly praise) how did he not penalise the Highlanders for being offside from some of those Smith box kicks that went almost straight up? I remember the Chiefs being penalised recently when Weber did exactly the same thing.

Not seeing Vaa'i as a future lock for the ABs at this stage.
Seems lightweight in the collision and lacks mongrel.Well as he already an All Black I suspect you missed something.

I said future lock - I think he has been promoted too soon.
