Highlanders v Hurricanes

TUJ going to be doing all the heavy lifting in the midfield with Paea and gregory on the bench
Forwards still strong, this is Ainsley's real shot to show what he can do
-
Hurricanes named to take on the Highlanders:
1 Xavier Numia
2 Dane Coles
3 Tyrel Lomax

7 Du’Plessis Kirifi
8 Ardie Savea ©
9 Cameron Roigard
10 Aidan Morgan
11 Salesi Rayasi
12 Jordie Barrett

16 Asafo Aumua
17 Pouri Rakete-Stones
18 Owen Franks
19 TK Howden
20 Peter Lakai
21 Jamie Booth
22 Harry Godfrey
23 Peter Umaga-JensenHolland up to his usual antics. Brayden Iose isn’t a 6, that loose forward trio looks way too small. This is exactly the same starting 15 that played the Rebels in week 2.
How does Julian keep getting selected? Naholo has been on fire the last three weeks. I’d rather see Sullivan on the wing than the broken down bus aswell.
Peter Umaga-Jensen makes his return from injury.
Unavailable for selection: Ruben Love, Caleb Delany, Tyler Laubscher, Reed Prinsep, Justin Sangster, TJ Perenara, Jacob Devery, Devan Flanders, Brett Cameron.

6/2 split for the Highlanders
Who's covering lock for the Canes? Howden?
yeah, i get a bit nervous, that can work when you have some game breaks on the bench, guys that can turn a tide, we have gregory, the upside, people like unt have shown they fit enough and has been better the last couple of games, standing deep, looking to pass to players at depth...we'll see
-
@Canes4life That injury list may not be complete. Sullivan looked injured after the game v Force (shoulder?). He said it himself in the post-match interview. Maybe he could have played if needed, but they're taking extra caution to give him time to heal 100%?

I surprised he is fit, he was a passenger for lat 10 minutes on Sunday.

Actually, I like the Clan's chances compared to the gloomy outlook of a few weeks ago. Still slim but I am hanging onto some hope.
-
No Smith is a big blow for us.
Heart says landers, head say Canes will be smarting from the narrow win last weekend... -
What I'm really looking forward to next year is never having to see Paea get embarrassed on defence again for the Landers. The guy is a massive liability.
-
@Mattasaurus this has to be Fakatava's shot to prove himself as a starter too after a couple of rough starts at the start of the season
-
I feel like the Canes have picked a team to play at pace but then they’ve picked Julian Savea so it just doesn’t make sense. This would have been a perfect game for Kini to rip up under the roof like his bro.
If TUJ goes down I feel like the Landers are done with only two back reserves on the bench and a lack of firepower in the backs.
Really looking forward to De Groot vs Lomax and Roigard vs Fakatava.

Completely agree, it's wild that Ardie is the heaviest player in that trio and he's only 102kg!
Remember when Holland started three 7's (Gibson, Kirifi, Savea) in last years Quarter Final?

He's just following fosters lead

@Machpants 2nd Ireland test? at least Papali'i had played 6 a lot before & he's 1.93cm so exactly short for a 6.
Also, Papali'i 113kg and Cane's 106-7kg, so it's only Savea who could be considered somewhat undersized.
Last year Holland started 3 guys under 102kgs against the Brumbies' culminative 337kg loose forward trio (Tom Hooper 122kg, Pete Samu 102kg, Rob Valentini 113kg) for the Quarter Final, the guy is an utter madman!
