What a way to finish. But it could come at a heavy cost if Barrett is seriously injured.
Looks ok, thankfully
Hope so. Must be the worst thing for a player to get a serious injury early season.

Jordie ok. Sore hip is all

Not nice seeing him rolling on the ground in obvious pain, glad to see him walking after that.
-
Player of the match for me was Roigard, then Aumua, Ardie and Jordie.
-
We should fancy our chances against the Rebels next week so hopefully we can secure maximum points in Australia to start the year.
Would be nice to see Higgins get a start.

@Canes4life How close was that to their best side? Ruben Love was out. Aumua was a beast he could well be even better than ST, will be an interesting contest when they play the Chiefs. He really got the Canes rolling maul going well leading to the penalty try, dude was immense.

Ratima
Could be a WC bolter. Can play the game at real pace.

The Canes have about 11 players out so not their best side but it wasn’t weak.

Lol steady on guys it was just the Reds, let's not get carried away

Well I enjoyed that, Well I will say after seeing Morgan as a problem after last week in Levin, is shows how much I know, he went ok last night, wasn't great but ok, and I think he may of been helped by Roigard (geez I like this kid more all the time) inside, and Jordie went well outside him, so maybe helped take pressure off him. I still wonder how Ardie keeps going, that man is more than a machine he muct be a mess day after game. I have to say liked the way our 2 front rows went, get the feeling that Lomax and Aumua work well on that TH side at seperating the opposite front row and Malifeso looks like he pretty good at this level as well. All in all I pretty content today, and will be able to enjoy beers over in Brisbane next week with mates that are Reds supporters!

Big Izzy Walker-Leawere has been solid tonight.
Agree. Improve his discipline and he's a keeper. Big powerful player that we need. Blackwell was poor again.shame as he played well last NPC.
Maybe start bird and IWL.

At least we have genuine options to the ageing TJP and Weber. Need 3 halfbacks and only Smith is inked in. Fakatava, Weber, TJP, Christie, Roigard, Ratima all scrapping for the other two spots IMO.
Pity is that none of them play regularly with Mounga. -
Looking at this performance. We need a top 1st. And another lock. But the front row is looking good now. Back row likewise. Roigard is a keeper at HB. Proctor is finally playing top rugby. . As he did in last years NPC. Barrett was fine although not his greatest ever game for the Canes. Back three will not set the world on fire. But good enough although I would definitely prefer Love at FB. And would like to see Sinkinson tried against a weaker team. Maybe Moorby can play on one wing as well although I'm unsure about him. Give Rayasi game time and lots of coaching and see what he can do.
At lock how many penalties did IWL give away? Hopefully MacIntosh or someone can stop this as he certainly a big unit with good skills. And is fit enough. Blackwell is a good man to have in the squad and is great at NPC level but too limited at this level. But at his best he is fine but too often slips below his best.
Cameron of course is an option at first. As is Godfrey. Or Barrett at first and Higgins at 2nd. But I hope the coaches don't just settle on Morgan until Cameron returns. Take a risk next week with Godfrey starting. With Higgins in the reserves (hopefully fit) so if Godfrey is useless bring Moragn on early. With the option of moving Barrett to first in case of injury to Morgan.
Regarding Lakai. Didn't stand out like in last years NPC but should start again next week at 7 (we need bigger players than Kirifi esp when playing the top 3 NZ sides. And Brumbies). Give this backrow more time. Or maybe try Delany at 6 against teams with better lineout options. Otherwise stick with Flanders.
I would also start with the 2nd half front row. But bringing on the top front row in the 2nd half worked well
A good start. But the big test is week 3 vs the blues
