The serious point here is that AB backline functions best with a big body at 12, allowing the option of just trucking the ball up and resetting. Other than Jordie who can fill the bill?
There was a certain sizeable and older blues player but he may not have impressed them in his brief showing.

Speaking of utility midfielders, Nankivell? Not popular on here though it seems..

Too many rocks in the bag of diamonds. He needs to reduce his error rate.

That's the thing though eh, every bloody 12 going either misses too many tackles, makes too many mistakes, doesn't make enough metres post contact or any combination.
We really need to grab another fullback for the midfield. Come back Roger.

Agreed.
Some investments haven’t paid off (yet).
Tupaea’s injury was a big one for starters and PUJ not kicking on hasn’t helped.
I 100% agree that we don’t have an ideal person waiting, so we’ll need to develop their deficiencies.
Given the growth in Rieko at 13, I think we can do that if we choose players who have the right base capability and build on the others that can be developed.
In Rieko’s case, we have speed and are working on everything else. At 12, I would say it is gainline then everything else.

Be interesting to see how we select for the bok game , I can’t make my mind up whether it’s a play your best side game or an opportunity to get more game time into the second stringers with it being a dead rubber .
-
@kiwiinmelb expect some players thrive off more gametime (Codie Taylor being one, although Sami T looked under done on the weekend due to lack of play) and a few combos likely need to continue to build.
So sitting on the fence, I reckon it'll be a mixture, not wanting to show too much.

You probably don't want to risk playing both Whitelock and S Barrett, or not for a full 80 mins.

Good game to test possible injury replacements?
-
Surely you play the 23 against South Africa you intend to play against France in the opener. Give that selection the best possible chance to be in sync and humming before taking on the tournament co-favourites. If you don't, then our best 23 haven't played together since July 29th for a game on September 9th.

I certainly would - with 2 clear weeks following to recover and rest any niggles. If there is anyone they want to give more time to, they should only be guys likely to be on the bench v France. Not the guys there as injury cover as they can have a run against Namibia and Uruguay.

I'm going, sounds good to me! Hopefully Christie gets a start though, I've heard he's amazing live.
according to the blind and deaf people in the mosh pit, yeah!

Looks like Christie has overtaken Frizell as the ferns most hated AB, slightly ahead of Caleb Clarke currently.

Codie Taylor has shown them the path they need to tread

Codie is born again hard. He's coming good at just the right time

A noisy minority.

So I ordered my 11 year old daughter a RWC shirt. Think the cartoonish design is perfect for kids even if I won’t touch it myself. I’ve got a polo with proper embroidered logos so will hang onto that as long as possible.
