Unfortunately will Rennie have to rebuild his reputation again?
dunno, I reckon he has done enough in NZ rugby to serve him well, and from an outside perspective, you can see he has made improvements although Aus Rugby and he werent without thier issues.
NZR seem to love that International experience....
Yep taniwhai, but Deans seemed to of never really got another gig, and his rep was probably even higher than Rennies?
He's doing very nicely for himself in Japan without the stresses of test rugby.
Yep coaching at a level he is very good at.
He hasn't been that bad as an International coach of the last 6 Wallaby coaches over the last 21 years he has the 2nd best winning percentage behind John Connolly who only coached for 25 tests compared to Deans 75 tests and has a better winning percentage than Eddie Jones,Ewen McKenzie,Michael Cheika and Dave Rennie
Winning %
11 Eddie Jones 2001–2005 57 33 2 1 57.89 %
12 John Connolly 2006–2007 25 16 8 1 64.00%
13 Robbie Deans 2008–2013 75 44 29 2 58.67%
14 Ewen McKenzie 2013–2014 22 11 10 1 50.00%
15 Michael Cheika 2014–2019 68 34 32 2 50.00%
16 Dave Rennie 2020–2023 33 12 18 3 36.36%Not knocking Deans Chris, just think super etc was his level(very good at that too), and maybe man management etc was/is his weakness, especially if you hear and read what former players say, even Dan Carter who has a lot of time for him says he struggles with experienced players who already know the game well.
With your experience at coaching, I would suggest you know the difference skills required as a coach at different levels etc.
Some bloody great club coaches just don't make the step up to NPC etc etc, just different skills etc. -

@NTA you didn't win the World Cup?
Second place is the first loser.
Better than being second loser.

Last time Eddie Jones was appointed Wallabies coach Iphones, Youtube, Twitter and Facebook did not exist and even harder to imagine Australia actually held the Bledisloe Cup.
Last time Eddie Jones was Wallabies coach this also happened:
Was Gregan asking about Kellehers missus ?
-
How upset must South Sydney Rabbitohs be with this signing..
I'm actually surprised Murdoch doesnt have an article on this yet lol

@sparky said in Rennie Sacked, Eddie In!:
@NTA Childish moment from Gregan. They went lost to England the next week anyway so wippie-do.
Actually Gregan always said it was only ever aimed at Kelleher, who he disliked, Justin Marshall actually thought it was good as he also thought Kelleher was a piston wristed gibbon, and heard him say those exact words!

He heard Gregan while sitting in the stands ? That’s a good effort

No, but it ever occur that he saw it on TV like us, and the players talked about it in the dressing shed??
Oh I get you, I meant I heard Marshall use those exact words when describing it. I got to explain myself a bit better it seems! Or at least post and not expect everyone to know how my mind is good at leaving out bits!

But there is no chance Rennie will work under Foster.
Why's that? If he hasn't got a Japanese gig lined up as rumoured then a rest with the family followed by a short term gig with ABs could be a good option for him.
Money? He'll get better money elsewhere, by far.
Fame? He doesn't seem like that sort of guy.
And if the ABs win, how much would he enjoy seeing Foster take the credit? That would be the killer for me -- there is literally no upside for him in doing it.
There's only one reason he might take an assistant gig, and that would be out of (misplaced) loyalty to NZR.
To quote you back "he doesn't seem like that sort of guy". I think if he thinks he can help the ABs win then he'd do it regardless of Foster. Plus, he only needs to read the Fern to know that Ryan gets all the credit anyway.
I don't think he'd do it out of misplaced loyalty to NZR, just a desire to see the ABs win.
You must be a saint. I'm just a reasonably altruistic kind of guy, and I wouldn't go near a job like that.
Demotion to a much lower rank, for rubbish money (for him) with no future prospects in the job. Anything I do good reflecting on my boss, and any stuff up reflecting on me.
Not in a million years!

None of that adds up to “no chance”.
Money isn’t everything (especially for a short term gig)
The rest is just assumptions on how you might think.
I’m not saying he’d jump at it but it wouldn’t surprise me.
If NZR said “hey Dave, we still value you and think you could add something” he’d probably consider it. The guy doesn’t have much ego. -

Fucken RA say hold my beer to NZR!
Is there a longer coaching contract out there at the moment? Outstanding to sign a coach who the world has figured out is two seasons tops to a contract like that... when you already have a coach!
My only fear now is just what lengths Robinson is going to go to, to devise the reinstatement of his incompetence crown.

If NZR said “hey Dave, we still value you and think you could add something” he’d probably consider it. The guy doesn’t have much ego.Money won't come into it, other than as a measure of value (low), and the fact that it won't be a positive attraction that makes abasing himself worthwhile.
Your argument basically comes down to he'll do it for NZ, and -- I agree -- he's not as ego bound as many coaches.
But having been not even looked at for the AB job in the first place, in his position I would tell NZR the dark place they could shove it. They made a bad choice, and now they want him to help fix it?
"We still value you" won't have much ring, because of the "still". They gave him the hard shoulder four years ago because they clearly didn't value him.
Edit: this also assumes that NZR will accept that they made a bit of a mistake letting Rennie go. That ain't going to happen. No way will the current fish-heads acknowledge that they might have blundered.

They figure two seasons would be enough to win Bledisloe and Bill. I think Wallabies will get a spike in their performance in that time, hopefully not at our expense
