Fucken RA say hold my beer to NZR!
Is there a longer coaching contract out there at the moment? Outstanding to sign a coach who the world has figured out is two seasons tops to a contract like that... when you already have a coach!
My only fear now is just what lengths Robinson is going to go to, to devise the reinstatement of his incompetence crown.
They figure two seasons would be enough to win Bledisloe and Bill. I think Wallabies will get a spike in their performance in that time, hopefully not at our expense

Oh I'd agree with that. But he's signed to a 5 year contract isn't he? Or have I misread?

None of that adds up to “no chance”.
Money isn’t everything (especially for a short term gig)
The rest is just assumptions on how you might think.
I’m not saying he’d jump at it but it wouldn’t surprise me.
If NZR said “hey Dave, we still value you and think you could add something” he’d probably consider it. The guy doesn’t have much ego.Money won't come into it, other than as a measure of value (low), and the fact that it won't be a positive attraction that makes abasing himself worthwhile.
Your argument basically comes down to he'll do it for NZ, and -- I agree -- he's not as ego bound as many coaches.
But having been not even looked at for the AB job in the first place, in his position I would tell NZR the dark place they could shove it. They made a bad choice, and now they want him to help fix it?
"We still value you" won't have much ring, because of the "still". They gave him the hard shoulder four years ago because they clearly didn't value him.
Edit: this also assumes that NZR will accept that they made a bit of a mistake letting Rennie go. That ain't going to happen. No way will the current fish-heads acknowledge that they might have blundered.
I’m just puzzled with your thinking lines to be honest. There’s a hell of a lot of assumptions going on about the way someone thinks or perceives situations with zero knowledge to support it.
That’s the Fern I guess. I’m happy to wait and see. It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if it happens or not. -

Ha ha ha.
That was truly funny news to wake up to.
The Wallabies are likely to be more dangerous now - against us at least.
Surely they'd be more dangerous against the English? Jones must know a thing or two about their camp...

As the stuff article says, Jones' first target will be the Bledisloe Cup.
oh, true? naaah, bullshit
what an incredibly redundant statement
Like about 80% of the posts on the Fern.

@NTA Childish moment from Gregan. They went lost to England the next week anyway so wippie-do.
Yeah @NTA you’re a better ferner than resorting to this lame GIF
I'm really not.

@Dan54 Didn't Deans "get another gig", or didn't he "go for another (international) gig"? Did he even apply?
Yep well apart from Eddie, I don't know any coaches that have reapplied after getting fired from test rugby. But you right he never tried, that I know of.
John Mitchell went on to coach the mighty Eagles.

So who will join the Australian exodus before the international season?
Quade Cooper?
One thing I thought Rennie did well? Or maybe Cooper's improvement was all by Cooper?
-
Drew Mitchell
“It reminds me a lot of 2019,” Mitchell tweeted. “6-8 months before a World Cup, Rugby AU’s leadership lose faith in the current coach. [In] 2019 they appointed a selection panel because they didn’t have faith in [Michael] Cheika. 2023 they sack Rennie. “At what point does the focus turn on the people who make the appointments in the first place? These tweets aren’t about my thoughts on who or who shouldn’t be the man in charge. To some extent, feels like history is repeating itself.”

Last time Eddie Jones was appointed Wallabies coach Iphones, Youtube, Twitter and Facebook did not exist and even harder to imagine Australia actually held the Bledisloe Cup.
Never forget it Ferners…
Isn't that the Tri Nations trophy?
Was about to post that. The clue being "TRI NATIONS" engraved on the side.
Maybe that was @ACT-Crusader 's point, that we no longer care enough to care what the Bledisloe looks like anymore. It's 1979 all over again.
(I fully expect to have #booboo'ed.)

Nah. That was a good sledge. No swearing, no personal abuse and 100% correct. See how it still upsets us.

Dead cat bounce?

Not sure if it’s been mentioned in amongst the where will Rennie end up discussion, but
Rugby Australia has ensured that Rennie cannot coach elsewhere. His contract will be paid out but he will be on “gardening leave” for the remainder of the year.

Why do that?! Afraid of team secrets leaking? Seems nasty to me.
-
@nostrildamus I think if it was a non-RWC year they may have waived that but to me it’s not about being nasty but more a face saving exercise by RA.
-
@ACT-Crusader if that is indeed true, then it raises two issues:
- Rennie should get a better lawyer.
- That's remarkably petty from RA. A new coach is going to change things anyway.
-
@ACT-Crusader In the Sydney Morning Herald it's worded this way:
Dave Rennie, who will be precluded from coaching another team or country this year.
I kind of understand the other "country" thing in a RWC year, although, what harm could it possibly do to the Wallabies, if Rennie was offered the Head Coach position of - say - the USA, who won't be playing at the RWC? And not allowing him to coach "another team"? If that means a club team, I really don't understand why.
