Rennie Sacked, Eddie In!
-
@taniwharugby Eddie is possibly the best at getting a team to improve/turn around in his first year. Biggest years for him with all of Japan, Tahs, Wallabies, South Africa and England all came in his first years with those teams. But a 5 year gig ….
-
@hkkiwi guess it depends where the start line is, as others have mentioned, with so many close results last year and the injury toll, Aus were only a few bounces away from a very good season...Eddie usually starts with a lower bar I reckon, making the turnaround seem very good.

if the results are good, then the narrative will be that Eddie rescued the team that lost to Italy.
Large portions of the Australian Rugby fraternity fucking hate the Wallabies being coached by a foreign type, so they'll be hoping that this works.
-
@mariner4life yeah the whole foreigner thing will always be a thorn to some, and I'd expect the same for us too, even if results went well...
-
I always think that Aussie sports teams have to operate with a real cocky attitude to do well and that 'foreigners' struggle to get that attitude and approach happening. If the Wallabies get early points and their tails up they are a very hard proposition.
Eddie will do well and will make things difficult on the other side of the RWC draw.
England v Argentina becomes a key match now, I reckon. -

As the stuff article says, Jones' first target will be the Bledisloe Cup.
oh, true? naaah, bullshit
what an incredibly redundant statement

And if the Wallabies are instantly successful, a lot of the fringe supporters will come back.

Like about 80% of the posts on the Fern.

Is that what Eddie told them in his interview?
“It is a major coup for Australian Rugby to have the best coach in the world return home to coach the iconic Wallabies and to oversee the Wallaroos program,” McLennan said.
McLennan is on drugs. Incredibly stupid less than a year out from RWC and only makes sense if their focus is RWC 2027 in Australia. I like Eddie Jones alot but he's not the team/culture builder that Rennie was. He's what Aussie's call a shit-stirrer and IMO Rugby Aus will regret this in a couple of seasons time.
Question for the Fern - is Rennie now a legit contender for the AB job? Razor has Super form and longevity but he doesn't have Rennie's international experience at both club & test level.
-
With Skelton, Bell, Tupou, Valetini there’s enough for Eddie to work with there. They’ve got the easier half of the RWC draw. Harsh to rug pull Rennie though. I guess the thinking was now or never and Eddie being one of their own swung it. NZRU need to go cap in hand and get Rennie back somewhere asap. Eddie vs Razor next year. Goodness me. Can’t wait.

It's good for the Wallabies to be coached by an Aussie. TBF none of the Kiwi coaches the Wallabies have had, have worked out.

All Blacks should hire Rennie as defence coach
Bugger off, RA likes employing rejects from other countries, we don't want to start it.
RA wanted Deans after NZR didn't want him, now they want Eddie after Poms don't want him. Mind you we should of known he was buggered when Honest Hamish said in September he was the man to lead Wallabies into next WC, boy if that prick said the earth was round I would get suspicious.
