Some notable results of the men's tournament thus far:
Samoa lost to Ireland (12 - 14)
France beat South Africa (31- 7)
Fiji draw against the USA (21 - 21)
Fiji lose to South Africa (7 - 24)Is Fiji 7s recent lack of success the consequence of the Fijian Drua signing so many of their players?
Fewer shocking results in the women's tournament.
France lost to Ireland (7 - 27), but Ireland lost to Australia (12 - 33)
Australia also won both their games convincingly, the other win being over minnows Brasil (52 - 0) -
Haven't seen the games:
The AB7s just beat Uruguay 14 - 12. Pretty average result against the Teros 7s. I wonder whether it's due to sinbinnings?
Earlier the BF7s beat Canada 28 - 7
A few other results:
Samoa (men) also lost to Australia and won't go through to the Cup QFs
Cup QFs

5.35am: BF7s v Japan -

Really mixing up our players. Ref was keen to ping NZ at every chance. Need better discipline.
Example of the risks at 7s, in the pool games, of getting an inexperienced ref. Once he saw one penalty on defence he focused on everything. Some borderline stuff called but all by the book.
France beating Oz in the women’s pool was a good game but again some weird reffing. Oz do this thing where they make a tackle and have a “jackler” step right over the tackle as it is being made then reach down. No hands on ball or possession contested, just painting a picture to the ref. The refs seem to work off these pictures rather than reality.
