@Kiwiwomble How likely are we to see any players coming from overseas or returning Kiwis. Would be awesome to see Will Heinz at halfback for the Crusaders, he has been awesome for Canterbury.

@Winger ...and why was that addressed to me? apologies if im missing the obvious here

You replied with "what" who?" when @Winger said that the Canes have 9 loose forwards and that Lakai must somehow be included. I thought you meant to ask who the 9 loose forwards were, but I can understand that Winger thought you were wondering who Lakai was. So he replied. He's definitely not a future Canes "lock" though.

@Stargazer maybe he had a holiday in europe and theyre just counting that

I don't know why they suggest PPP is returning from France, but IMO it's a very bad article from the Roar.

So the latest hot take here is that while we were losing against top tier opposition, we should've been trying out unproven and inexperienced players?

I think there is some room for the argument that some players like Whitelock look tired and others maybe should be rotated to safeguard against surprise injury...

@antipodean well we are losing. What’s the risk? Unless 2 in a row is a AB success story

That's some genius hindsight; we lost so should've played inexperienced players so they too can get experience losing.

I think it's worth noting that taking a risk, and moving to a much less experienced frontrow, is what led to our improvement after the Irish series debacle.

The ABs don’t do rebuilds. We are only ever a match away from winning

@antipodean or genius insight that we lost so we should keep playing the same horses. And some changes we have made recently, including a coach, have been helpful. Thanks @tim.

With the benefit of injury and selecting what were clearly in form players like Samisoni. The same can't be said for any of the locks in question.

I don't think we necessarily should have been. It's recognising that we haven't been doing it - largely because of the poor coaching and current crop of players that are not as good as previous squads.

In an ideal world, yes - we bring on people off the bench to get game time. I'm sure I saw a stat that we haven't been blooding as many new players as usual in this cycle (or compared to others). If we get an injury or two it's going to be massively disruptive, with players coming in who haven't played.

This is not a great AB team, and you can tell the dirty provincial bias and screaming for differnet selections coming out on the back of it. Swapping one player with weaknesses for another doesn't fix the deeper issues; we're not prepping players for Test rugby in Super, our coaching isn't great, and the current crop isn't packed full of worldbeaters (like we have been used to).

@Bones yeah, i was conceding that, just adding he did grow up in NZ and go to school in NZ so not like he rocked up for the NPC or something

@Victor-Meldrew But he created the position he is in by his ineptitude as a coach. I am not sure why your continue to stick up for this guy just because he is what we have.

I'm not sticking up for anyone - just calling the situation as I see it re the Lock situation and lack of game time & injuries.

His focus should have been on blooding the next batch of players.

    Ahead of winning? Really?
