Did Laulala get on the park?
Earned scrum penalty within 60 seconds. Get with the programme!

Did the Aussies make meters up fat man's ally? Did they destroy our maul? Did they gain the advantage on the blindside? All nopes? I think Akira had a great game.
Stuff has a different view
Akira Ioane: Didn’t do much to solve any No 6 questions. Aside from a ripped ball near his own line, nothing much to catch the eye apart from showing his skills with a deft left-foot kick and speedy chase. Replaced in the 70th minute. 5.5
Just a poor take.
He defended well, used his bulk to move bodies, this fabled thing about him not using his shoulder is simply untrue. Several examples in this game alone.
Played tight like many have been asked him to show he can and did it well. Was throwing players back in gang tackles like a beast. Was fun to watch.
He’s particularly strong in the maul too.
One opportunity out wide and showed good skill to earn the team a 5m scrum. Rest of the time he did what he said he’d do the press conference, the dirty work so Ardie could run out on the wing.

If you're relying on Stuff then just give up. He was good in all aspects, but especially defence. His maul defence is excellent. ABs did not give away a single point while he was on the field.

No one seems to mention his try saver on the line either. It was a very solid outing from him, along with virtually everyone else as well to be fair. He didn't miss a tackle either.
Some people are just hard to please I guess.

He gets judged very differently than Frizzel and even SB. Both would have been lauded for that sort of performance.
He and Ardie work really well together.

@Tim Jordan is much better, yes. Clarke hasn't added much.
It's absolutely laughable that you claimed to stay away from the match threads because of all the negativity, when you are one of the main contributors of that negativity towards any player that isn't a Crusader.

@Kirwan Don't get me wrong, I thought Frizzell was fairly decent this year having not being a fan of his previously, but yeah, Akira was also solid tonight.
Nice to see a bit of competition for the 6 jersey.
Last week Akira took the ball forward from the last scrum almost too the line, but only after drawing the penalty from White grabbing him before breaking. He got to the line and recycled quickly, which set up the try. Not a lot of mentions of that very secure and dominant play.
-
@No-Quarter It's absolutely laughable, how you're trying to track my comments so you can try to catch me on an inconsistency. Whoop-de-do, you found one! Pat yourself on the back! Fantastic effort.

Just watched the match then read this. Staggered RM got mom. I thought he was rather patchy all night. Taylor was as well. And I thought I saw a bit of sloppy stuff from our flankers as well as some good stuff. May have to watch again as some clearly saw that differently. Still think that Frizzell and Cane have much more presence.
Glad to finally see Jordie at 12. He made a huge difference to our momentum. Lomax and Retallick made huge efforts and Sam Whitelock not far behind.
Well done to the ref tonite. -
@Kirwan Also Akira was 3rd = highest tackle count with no misses (and 2 turnovers won). one tackle behind Whitelock in 2nd. Papalii was first with 19 tackles with no misses. In fact the sanzaar stats say that the only 2 forwards (including reserves) who missed any tackles were de Groot with 1 and Lomax with 5 (a work on for him).

You could try being more positive, and recognising good play from non-Crusaders?
Just a thought.
