You've overreached there, we are talking about one incident. Doesn't' excuse some of the other poor stuff he did out there (and some good also). He has to stay on the mark that is hooker basics 101
And, like Cardiff 2007, a droppie would have been a great variation to break Pumas away from their two in ruck and twelve across the field defence.

Also - wasn't it an all Crusaders tight 5 when he came on (and wasn't that the point)?

Also - wasn't it an all Crusaders tight 5 when he came on (and wasn't that the point)?
Problem maybe Kiwi refs letting them get away with such for years?

If he's on our side, and he throws it straight then it's still not straight though - as it's supposed to go straight down the middle of the lineout. (Or did I just miss the joke here?)

In which case so long as ABs aligned half a metre from mark it's a legal throw, even if Pumas are more than half a metre away. And vice versa.
Yep. The ref bottled it because if there was a problem with where the ABs lineup had set up he should’ve dealt with the gap before the throw.
And if Taylor wasn’t on the mark the Touchie can tell him to move. Nothing from the Touchie.
Taylor throws straight and because it went to the ABs, ref said it wasn’t straight.
Its not up to refs to tell player where to stand. They often do so, but they are not obliged to do it.

Taylor was a big part of it, but the whole line out went to pot late on, which doesn't reflect well on any of the leaders in the pack. Watch how much the Argies closed the gap in those key lineouts to put extra pressure on Taylor to get his throw inch perfect and timed right. Whitelock or Scooter - or even Taylor himself - should have pressed the pause button and called for the gap if only just as a bit of a release valve for Taylor.

I get that and agree. My point though is that he didn’t call a short arm for closing the gap, so where they stood didn’t seem to matter to him.
Any way, a lost opportunity for the ABs is all that matters. Like several others but that was a tough one given the context of the game.
