Jeff Wilson seems rather concerned with being positive or is just plain deluded.
I remember Matt Burke calling games for Channel Ten here in Oz - his solution was always to use the backline more. No matter the forwards were getting pumped.
Similar vein.

even at club rugby we training 1's v 2's so you're jumping against an opposition, obviously test match footy is several levels higher but the principle of jumping against someone trying to pinch it is still there, i think the fact ST seemed to have much less of a problem than taylor shows it is possible to handle
And you need to do it under fatigue as well. I'm a fucking superstar at hitting the target if I don't have 20 minutes of rucks and running in the way
thats why lineout and scrum training is always at the end of training

@dogmeat That's fairly common. The rationale is that they give the players a few minutes to warm up as they're not using the HT break to do so. I'm certainly not saying I agree with this tactic, but it's not restricted to just Foster. They would have made that decision at HT, and it was the wrong decision.
The decision was probably made pre game.
Ryan said there was minor injuries to both props. Then the decision was made to change to the front row
ST was still playing well, hindsight is a great thing but would have been worth while for 5 minutes to see if he could play with the other props
Based on 100% throwing record, it was last 15 where we really missed Sami. Mind you last throw from Codie was straight. It did seem that he stood almost in front of AB line so our side of middle, but nonetheless straight.
Did they replay it? I was too busy shouting at the useless fuck and making a fridge visit

You are the head coach ffs, own that mistake and don't publicly out your assistants. He's definitely feeling the heat.
Although it was likely Ryan who suggested it. It's a tough one but a better head coach would overrule his assistant when a stupid decision like this is made. Agree to replace the props but not the hooker just yet
Pretty concerning that Ryan appears to have a blind spot for Taylor as well. Seriously, replacing Samisoni with Taylor is like replacing Lomu with Bridge. They are so far apart it's not even funny, with the scoreboard close subbing our best player was one of the crazier substitutions I've ever seen.
-
On the Subs, if you’ve got guys like Va’ai and Perofeta sitting on the bench and aren’t prepared to bring them on after 60 mins in a tight game then they shouldn’t be on the bench.
If you want your experience at the business end. Start those 2 and bring on others.

If he's on our side, and he throws it straight then it's still not straight though - as it's supposed to go straight down the middle of the lineout. (Or did I just miss the joke here?)

I did, expecting it to drift. Mind you it looked as though Taylor wasn't standing in the middle of two teams.

Sad to say, no joke. Isn't hooker meant to stay on mark and throw straight?
In which case so long as ABs aligned half a metre from mark it's a legal throw, even if Pumas are more than half a metre away. And vice versa.

Yep. The ref bottled it because if there was a problem with where the ABs lineup had set up he should’ve dealt with the gap before the throw.
And if Taylor wasn’t on the mark the Touchie can tell him to move. Nothing from the Touchie.
Taylor throws straight and because it went to the ABs, ref said it wasn’t straight.
-
@ACT-Crusader on another day, maybe the ref does that. But really, is it too much to expect for our guys to set a line out properly?
-
Pretty funny justifications going on here for Taylor. How many Tests does it take to learn to take a half step and throw it down the middle?
Was kinda important.
If there is any accountability left in selection he’d be gone. Stunk up the joint for 35 minutes.

You've overreached there, we are talking about one incident. Doesn't' excuse some of the other poor stuff he did out there (and some good also). He has to stay on the mark that is hooker basics 101
-
@reprobate Fox is still dirty on the hooker that had his foot over the line...

We lost three lineouts close in.
-
Lifters called for blocking. Can't be arsed checking the laws, but can't ever remember seeing that called;
-
Overthrow to back. That one's all Taylor;
-
Not 'straight'. That was marginal to say the least.
The real issue is that with such an inexperienced and erratic ref anything other than to the front was a risk. Meaning at 18-25 taking the three looms large, even if Justin Marshall would say its not in our DNA.
And, like Cardiff 2007, a droppie would have been a great variation to break Pumas away from their two in ruck and twelve across the field defence.

Short one to Mantera was as straight as a dog's hind leg?

Learned nothing in 15 years
That's tragic

Perhaps more tragic is forgetting what we learned extremely painfully?!
