Canterbury v Wellington

Great to see the change in coaching has really changed things for Canterbury
Marty Bourke
And
Craig Dunshe and Alex Robertson from club rugby and Canterbury B
Matt Todd must be making an impact as well.Change of Coaching looks like it may work pity the NZR can not see it as yet.

@Chris Well yes, you're youngsters that finished the game were far stronger than the bench that finished for Wellington, I never disputed that, my point was more about how bad Wellington's bench was, and boy were they bad. I'd expect the Canterbury side to walk over the top of them and they did that.
Hard to tell where Wellington will finsh up this year. They looked good in patches but their option taking let them down when they got in the Canterbury red zone and I put a lot of that down to Perenara. Blackwell should not be used as a carrier either. Their bench, as I pointed out earlier is very weak as well.
Could be Canterbury's year. A strong side on paper. They'll have tougher challenges than that no doubt, but they're building nicely if they stay injury free.

If Morgan is out for a long time, Love needs to shift to 10 and Connor needs to start at 15. Jackson is rubbish.
But so is Love.

Wellington I thought played well for 40minutes
Canterbury defence put a lot of pressure on them.Wellington will knock a couple of big sides over
This year.Canterbury have been shit for 3 years I don’t expect to win the comp, But happy to see improvements and a team playing with pride and a passion,
The new coaching staff have improved things by quite a long way. -
@Bones Love is rocks and diamonds, JGB is just rocks. He barely has any upside. He’s slow, his passing is laboured, he’s got an average boot and he’s a turnstile on defence.
Would much rather prefer Connor on the field than Jackson. If that means pushing Love back to 10 then so be it.

43-10. It's a hiding. Wellington and the canes never had great teams but I always had hope. And at their best they were exciting to watch.
Now I've given up on both the canes and Wellington. I expected a big loss and they
delivered. The Lions and Canes have had plenty of great teams over the years. Have they lived up to expectation, definitely not.
Take that 2015 Canes team for example. Absolutely stacked, did we win the comp though? No. Typical Canes and Wellington teams not finishing off the job.
Didn’t Wellington make 7 finals or something between 2001 and 2010, but lost every 1? Imagine if they won them all, we would be singing a different tune.

@Canes4life always the bridesmaid

Sigh.... we have two good 8s in Sotutu and Grace .... one isn't playing and the other is not in SA.
-
Congrats to young George Bell on making his debut and playing a big shift. Did some very good things out there. Just seems to have a real feel for the game for a young kid.
Thought Burke controlled the play well for the good guys. Ably assisted by a couple of experienced halfbacks.
Good to get a bonus point win.

@Chris Yeah you guys were never gonna be down for too long sadly haha, you're too big a province with a world class academy and as you said, have bought in coaches that know what they're doing, similar to Auckland in 2016-2017 under Nick White when they struggled but once they changed coaches, results were positive again.

@African-Monkey I think we need to do that same and get rid of some of the dead wood in this team.
