We need the experience with Taylor.
I keep seeing stuff like this, but I really can't fathom the reasoning behind it. Why? What is his experience actually doing for us? Because he looks like an overawed newbie out there.
Yeah the reason you have experience is that they react well in tense games, cos they've seen it before an can deal with it. Obviously Taylor can't deal with it, so there is no reason at all to start him
To me, this hark to experience is killing us. Taylor and Beauds shit the bed, Smith stagnates, Retallick plays like a guy learning the ropes, KT comes on and spends more time on the ground than on his feet, Laulala plays touch, Cane plods around. The mix is completely off.

yeah, some in NZ rugby have a real hard on for the idea of experience...regardless of if that experience is of losing

Even Whitelock, for all the good he does has cost us dearly with a couple of brain explosions.

And a few on here are calling for Dickson to join the ABs. A guy who struggled to get through a game without a brain explosion and time in the naughty chair.

Went alright for the Maori didn't he? 2 games for the landers, but I don't recall seeing it being an issue at other times. It was pretty galling to do the exact same thing on his return from a ban though.

i kind of agree...partially, he has a bit of trouble getting low for a tackle in the past couple of seasons...BUT...he might be worth a shot to see if its something they can teach out of him...so wouldn't throw him into a RWC squad...but maybe for the RC

Yeah I think he may be worth a shot, but we shouldn't be surprised if he gets carded.

Looking at locks, I'd probably plump for MSR to replace Retallick - really similar game style for me and he's worth a look.
Dickson reminds me of that other highlanders lock from about a decade ago, for the life of me can't remember his name - but he came in and did a brilliant job for a season or 2. Hits hard on both sides of the ball - give him a shot.
Gallagher very similar to Dickson but with a longer future, let them fight it out.
Goodhue definitely worth a look over Tuipulotu if he's sticking around.
I'm just not hugely convinced by Vaai at lock, he just seems so lightweight.

Hopefully Red, Whitelock, Retallick, Laulaua, Taylor, Tuungafasi, Lomax will all be there to show him how not to.

im also concerned a lot of these guys have a yips now...previously they could fall back on pure confidence to try something and often succeeded....not now, i think we're very close to rolling the dice on several bolters...young...hungry...want to prove themselves....dont think they can do worse than a lot of these guys who have comfortably had a spot in the squad based on reputation and now are second guessing themselves every time the get passed the ball

I think some people are a bit too keen to get rid of players in the squad.
A lot of the current problems may be "between the players' ears" and I'd like to see first whether a new coach can solve that by improving the culture, communication and game plan.

Your common sense and placidity is not welcome here. Oh wait, this isn't one of the half dozen Foster threads is it?

there was also Tom Donnelly, he actually made the AB's and after checking played more tests than i thought he did

Nah definitely Donnelly - when I said came into the team, I meant the ABs. 1.5 season wonder wasn't he?
To be deleted in 3....2....1....
All hail the king.
