Well this is surprising
.....given he got the job 3 weeks ago.....Joe Schmidt won’t apply for the All Blacks head coaching role. Schmidt released a short statement on Saturday that also ruled out the possibility of him working with either Scott Robertson or Jamie Joseph, the leading candidates to succeed Ian Foster. “I have really enjoyed being back on the grass coaching with the Blues and the All Blacks,” he said. “I very much appreciate those opportunities, but presented with a condensed time frame this year, I won’t be applying for any coaching roles that extend beyond the Rugby World Cup.
Someone on here got it wrong @george33

I am absolutely shocked and appalled by that. My faith in anonymous internet sources has taken a real hit. Feeling a bit lost right now.

@Chris yes joe has other issues which were not made clear today so that's it sad news
I hope they are not serious issues of any kind.
Maybe it's the same family circumstances that brought him back from Ireland in the first place

Hope that aren’t taking applications from any coach that takes a champion team and loses against the Drua 😹😹
Cheers. I haven't watched the game yet.

The internet just sends disappointment after disappointment.
Maybe if I got a Twitter account I'd get the truth??!!!

Will get you the real oil later today.
I'm having a beer with a bloke this afternoon, and his brother's best friend's cousin has a sister-in-law whose next-door neighbour's baby-sitter's boyfriend has a mate who works in the coffee shop next street down from NZR HQ....

sad news because he won't apply or because of his not made public except to you (and others in the know) reasons?

So Schmit got the job but a couple of weeks later it suddenly dawned on him that he had a child with special needs and had to turn it down?
I heard they offered the captaincy to McCaw. He said yes, but then realised he'd retired.
