@Chris Hey I was one who wanted him tried (about 3 years ago, but Canes wouldn't even really give him a go there), but I restate what I said , hardly every man and his dog which I was replying to. I know I got shouted down when I suggested it on at least one forum. Mind you I wasn't over the top, just wondered if he would be an option to look at, think on at least one forum I was just blasted as a Canes man etc etc.
I actually think if we read enough forums or even threads we will find a few suggesting any number of players, hey it's why we come on forums, noone actually has to stand by what they say or suggest. And it's all good.

Not bagging you mate just mentioning its been talked about on this forum by a few people for quite some time.Maybe this is a more intelligent forum that most with a lot of people with great ideas.WAIT A MINUTE what am I saying FFS its the Fern.

@Machpants Geez I don't recall hearing or reading everyone calling for Jordie at 12, in fact on a couple of forums I saw plenty rubbish idea.

On this forum there were quite few calling for Jordie to be at 12 as far back as 2021 as I remember.

    Far before that @Rancid-Schnitzel

    4 years in fact

I want to find my post where I predicted David Tua would knock out Shane Cameron by the second round

Just to add regards that second bit about Laumape-some people [not here of course] have recently been bagging him for looking good against the Japanese. That's better than some of the ABs!

Announcement on next All Blacks head coach could sooner than expected.

Paywalled but is it always this early before the world cup?

No it's always after the WC early the next year, interesting it maybe pre world cup.
I suppose a way to give Foster 4 more years , I suppose they can't dump him if he hasn't failed at the WC, if he has been reappointed on what he has done so far it must be good enough to keep going if he wants.

    I'd go the other way.

A successful World Cup would have been Foster's best chance of reappointment.

If they announce his successor it may add something to our chances because the players will want to try and send him off in style

@canefan or maybe in the player reviews there was issues with how stale some has become, how changes need to be made, so NZR think they need to be ahead of it as a way to keep some players who may be thnking of leaving post RWC?

Reckon not even the NZR are that incompetent they'd give Fozzie 4 more years. But what about Fozzie having enough and not seeking reappointment? Cushy jobs overseas waiting.....

There's a big difference between giving someone embedded in the group a last year to improve after being within days of being sacked, and saying that performance is good enough for the next four years and not giving someone else a go. Foster is gone after the world cup, no way he is going to stay. The reason they are starting the process early is because they don't have foster mark 2 ready to take to coach, they need to catch the best coaches ASAP. Being left with whomever Scotland didn't want is not good

Agree it should be that way and I hope it is, but as I keep saying I do not trust the NZR to get the job done properly.

Another good reason to do it now. As much as the players say they like Fozz, I can't think of any good reason why they shouldn't announce a new HC for 2024 now

IMO too much has been made of players openly supporting Foster. Of course they support the current coach, especially if it's a nice guy. That doesn't mean they think he's the best coach and that there aren't better options available. They just won't say that out loud (publically).

I can't wait for the player biographies that will come out after they've retired!

@Stargazer Only if you not a Foster etc supporter, I bet if players said he was crap or they thought Razor was a great coach it would be diiferent. It is not unusual to dismiss any opinions that don't line up with ours.

@Dan54 Nonsense. If Robertson or Rennie or X were appointed tomorrow, and they'd ask the players in a few months whether they're happy with the new coach, they'll also openly support the new coach. You can't draw any conclusions from that either.
They would never say publically that they think it would have been better if Foster had stayed. At most, they'll make some positive remarks about Foster, but they'll never say they disagree with the appointment of the new coach.

    It works both ways.
