Foster, Robertson etc

@Damo Razor'll have an opt out clause if offered an international coaching job.
The RFU will offer to make him the highest paid coach in the world if he takes the England job after the end of Eddie Jones' contract.
Razor has an opt out clause at the end of 2023, he is contracted until the end of 2024. This is what he signed up for, waiting until post 23 RWC to take the ABs. Sure if he doesn't get it 24+, then he's gone. But nothing has changed for him, he signed his enxtension knowing Foster is ABs coach until the end of RWC23. So, I'll say it again, nothing has changed. As he has alluded to, he will be overseas if he doesn't get it in 24, and rightly so. Also no reason he can't come back 28 onwards and coach, he's young for a international coach

Razor will be the next England coach
Robertson made it clear it was head coach or nothing and it seems NZR are keeping all the options open for him after RWC2023. If he wants to turn the chance of coaching the AB's down in just over a year's time in favour of England, then you can only wish it goes well for him.
And considering two of our RWC-winning coaches had high-profile and pretty successful careers coaching in the UK, such a move might not be a bad thing.

Jones is going nowhere until after the RWC either. So basically his decision is which one does he want, right?
WRONG.
Remember the last appointment process which got Foster the job, jobs for the boys right. Why would Robertson think that's changed into the next cycle given it's the same bunch of bumbling fools at the board level. Look at the way they've treated Foster. What happens if Robertson takes charge and has a rough start, will he be subject to the same shit?
I suspect Robertson's position, in his head at least, is that he won't take the AB's job unless there is a wholesale cleanout at the top of the NZRFU.
And I suspect there isn't an NZ rugby fan who begrudges that position.

I know some who think he is a traitor for wanting to coach 2 RWC teams. I read posters online (not here) who think he is arrogant. A minority, probably, but they exist.

I hope he's arrogant. I wouldn't want anybody coaching the AB's whose not at least a bit arrogant.

Current rant: if NZR and Robinson don't want to be seen as an old boys club why the hell let Foster put his arm on Robinson's shoulder at the press conference..? (End rant)

I liked that post because I want him to be arrogant too.
However, I'm also happy to put my hand up as a fluffybunny, and say that any NZer who wants to coach a proper tier one opposition against us, to win a WC, is a fluffybunny too.
If you want to coach the ABs, go coach Wales, Scotland, Japan, even perhaps Ireland, but not OZ or England (and SA is never going to happen anyway).

@MajorRage the arrogance claims are from them thinking he should accept assistant coach. I don't share their opinion or assumption.

What the....really? This is getting ridiculous. My manager gives everyone hugs whenever she sees them - does that mean we're part of an old boys club too? What about when I shake hands with other leadership members or give them a pat on the shoulder if I haven't seen them in a while?

Your manager does that at a national press conference while announcing who the coach is?

I don't understand your issue here, it's really bizarre. How the fuck does that make it an old boys network? I know you can occasionally be even more random than me, but this one is really fucking out there.

Only hope NZR have finally twigged to the mess they, and they alone, got AB Rugby into. Expecting and regularly reviewing progress (which I'd want with any new coach, no matter their reputation) is one thing, publicly hanging your coach out to dry is another.
As you've alluded to, there's a risk this whole episode could reverberate for a few more years and make getting the coach you really want a whole lot harder.

I've seen a lot of that at public events and press conferences and it's become quite common. Oddly enough it's mainly between the blokes for some reason. Think it's mainly an affirmation thing.
