@KiwiMurph following Labour's lead: announcement about an announcement of nothing
-
@KiwiMurph said in Foster:
I don't know why you'd call a press conference if you are keeping Foster.
Then again this is Robinson
Ah, so you think he might be announcing an extension of his contract up until the end of the 2027 Webb Ellice Trophy on the back of this win?

Not a great look for NZR though. I doubt Foster was lying when asked if he would still be coach in two weeks with his “I don’t know” comment. That shows that he wasn’t set a clear target to keep his job and NZR have been clearly working behind the scenes on a preset decision without telling him.
It wouldn't surprise me that NZR follow up a win at Ellis Park by sacking the coach. That's the level of ineptitude I expect.

More assistant changes I reckon or it’s completely different and it’s got something to do with the upcoming Argies series and we are trying to use the good will from last night’s win as the backdrop

Really loved that win last night but would be soooooo disappointed if it meant a longer Foster tenure.

Foster is consistenty inconsistent and it took the All Blacks to basically reach their lowest point in years and years for that performance to be produced. Kudos to Fozzie for getting the backs to stand deeper on attack, but games are won in the forwards and that credit goes to Jason Ryan - not him.
The players weren't playing for Foster so much as their own survival, pride and respect.
Many were playing for their very survival at last chance saloon should a new coach be appointed. Others were perhaps worried they would be shifted positions should a new coach come in.Not getting rid of him now is a mistake because we can probably muddle through against Oz and the Argies and then there will be no cause to sack him. No more waiting, no more chances. Time to rip off the band-aid, despite it hurting the feelings of players that are close to him (such as his Christian blood brother Ardie)
As Rancid said, this game proves we have the players. Now we need the best coaches.
