Harry Godfrey signs through until 2025.
I was stoked when I heard he was signed for a few more years, I worry with Canes having a food lot of young uns poking there heads above ground there would be a few cicling, I could of seen Godfrey being a bloody good target for Crusaders, etc.
I hope they tie up Roigard for a few years too! -

I hope they tie up Roigard for a few years. We’ve got Lakai, Love, Roigard, Godfrey, Higgins, Howden, Morgan all under 22. Then you have guys like Cooper Flanders also in that group. It’s definitely a core group of players to build the club around going forward so making sure they are signed up is vital.

@Canes4life under 23. 2 are currently 22. But still young
No tight 5. Although one can cover lock. We need at least one tall young lock

There are plenty of young locks coming through, Hugo Plummer who made his debut on Sunday, Tom Allen from under 20s, Isaia Walker-Leawere isn’t exactly old, and Justin Sangster is a young lock we haven’t seen this season yet. Caleb Delany is another.

Any update on Sangster's injury ?
Nope, no update on Delany either or the others for that matter.

Another serious knee injury to Manawatū and Hurricanes No 8 Tyler Laubscher ...
Easter Thursday did him no favours because when play stopped in the 11th minute, the heavily strapped Laubscher was left lying on the ground.
He was only into the second game of five which the Hurricanes had asked him to play to show he was fit for Super Rugby following previous acute groin and knee episodes. Now he will probably require another MRI scan. -

The article is about the Hurricanes' first five-eighths, particularly Morgan and Godfrey, but I only copied this, because the Hurricanes give so few injury updates:
With Brett Cameron set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious knee injury in their crazy 45-42 win over the Force last weekend ...
Although no timeframe has been given on when Cameron might return, he was seen sporting a robust looking knee brace on Thursday, and Holland said the injury was “serious”.
And this is from another article about Manawatū:
When referee Paul Williams blew an instant halt to play on the 72nd minute of the Hurricanes match last Sunday, it was Manawatū's luck that it would be one of their own.
Sure enough, the Turbos' prime playmaker Brett Cameron had gone down with the medial collateral ligament in his left knee torn.
The good news, no surgery required, rehabilitation lasting eight to 12 weeks and he hopes he'll be running again in four weeks.
The bad news for Cameron, who was in fine fettle, was his Hurricanes season over as their first-choice first five-eighths.Canes coach Alfie Holland, formerly of Ōroua and Manawatū, saw his old province right by playing Cameron, Brayden Iose, Jamie Booth and TK Howden, the latter starting after someone dropped Devan Flanders at lineout practice.

Hurricanes who played club rugby, this weekend:
Wellington
Riley Higgins (13, Petone)
Pasilio Tosi (3, Paremata-Plimmerton)Manawatū
Tyler Laubscher (Varsity; already posted earlier, he suffered another serious injury)Interesting to see Riley playing at 13 a lot lately, he did so for the Hurricanes in the pre season aswell. Maybe they’ve requested him to get comfortable at both centre positions in preparation for his role at the Canes moving forward.

Hurricanes prop Xavier Numia signs on until 2025.
He’s been very good this year at scrum time and is developing nicely. Hopefully he keeps improving.
-
1.93 Howden playing at lock. Hope Gibbes isn't behind this. He's too short for a lock and should focus on 6.
I'm surprised Lakai and Higgins have both not had more game time for the Canes. I would prefer Lakai to Iosi. And Higgins to a returning from a long term injury PUJ.
-
Some good news for a Friday morning. Ruben Love commits to the Canes for the next two seasons.
Hopefully he can get back on the park soon, he's the sort of player that will take the Canes up a notch.

Peter Lakai (8, Petone)Taranaki

@Canes4life Hmmm, that line-up on the Taranaki website was awfully long, so maybe they just listed all players that are registered with the club!

Kini Naholo (Clifton)? Is Riley starting at 12 next week. With PUJ at 13. Proctor in the reserves just in case. And unsure why Lakai is on the outer now but hope he gets another run at 8 next week. He started at 7 the first week. Had a few more games at 8 and 7. Some he was very good then dropped with Iosi preferred. Strange decision by Gibbes and co

Iose has been performing strongly, no need to rush Lakai but I expect him to feature next week against MP.
Hopefully we get to see more minutes from players like Lakai, Sullivan, Higgins, Godfrey and PUJ next week.
This full stream game of Petone vs Poneke last week shows how classy Lakai and Higgins are. Godfrey was also hanging around the Petone team.
Both Higgins and Lakai are obviously going to be big parts of the Canes in the future but there is no need to rush them when we've already got quality/more senior players playing well in those positions.
If you want to take a look, here are the timings of when Higgins and Lakai make key contributions in that fixture:
19mins 54 sec: Higgins sets up a try
25mins 55 secs: Lakai goes in for his first try
53mins 50 secs: Lakai goes in for his second
105mins 33 secs: Higgins scores his first
