Canes are losing Savea for all of 2024.
Yeah it was posted on another thread. I think we have plenty of depth to cover, especially because of the fact he’s considered to be more of a number 8 these days. We’ve got Lakai, Iose and Flanders waiting to jump in.
-
@Canes4life yea we've got depth but Ardie is the best player on the planet so it's still a big loss.
A year of Lakai learning from Ardie before he goes away for a year is great though.

@SBW1 id say the majority! except Pepesana rumour is hes heading south smh some BS right there, and Canes are signing another winger from up north. waikato i believe. Dunno if true or not but they are whispers around the berhampore hood

That sucks to hear, Pepesani has been a rock for the Lions this year, mistake free and solid. I'd imagine if he goes South he will go to the Landers.
-
@Canes4life not the Landers, he has been one of our star performers, great on attack and defence. can play in mid field. apparently the offer the canes made, you could earn more working as a window washer (joke)

Crusaders? Yeah he's been brilliant this year, almost a like for like replacement for Goosen. And I bet the Waikato player they have supposedly signed will probably be a level down.
-
@Canes4life Sinkinson had a very good year. Suspect someone will pick him up.

Haven’t seen much of him as I’ve only really watched Wellington games. Is he a wing?
-
@Canes4life yes. NZ sevens background. Was close to leading tryscorer and top metres gained for most of npc....

Sounds like a good pickup. Why aren’t the Chiefs onto him?
-
@Canes4life too many light outside backs at Chiefs already. Need a more powerful player like Nanai or K Naholo or Malimali. Patafilo was quite mediocre up this way. Much improved in last few games. Sinkinson is more like Goosen than Savea.

We’ve got Rayasi and Savea so Sinkinson wouldn’t be a bad pick-up in that case.

@Canes4life could be!? from the little ive seen Sinkinson's not bad, but not seen enough and id still rather Pepesana, have the Saders given up on Kini? if he shed some weight and got faster and good on high ball would be great at the Canes

On Naholo slack work ethic is what I heard after his season at the Crusaders in 2022.They didn't extend his contract.
Signed for the Chiefs so I understand -

@Chris apparently Canes signed him 🤷🏽♂️
Ok you could be right,I know he had offers from the Chiefs and Canes and the rumour around was he had signed for the Chiefs.
Would not surprise me if it ended up being the Canes. -

Where did you hear that one?
-
@Chris ironically this is what Scott Robertson was quoted saying when they signed Naholo initially: “Kini is a powerful ball runner and prolific try-scorer, with a really impressive work ethic. We’re looking forward to welcoming him in to the Crusaders and helping further develop his immense talent,” Crusaders coach Scott Robertson said in a statement.

Maybe he was hoping that and it didn't work out that way.
