Hopefully this ends up being true for old mate Prinsep.
Has he played at all this NPC? He was captain last year and a regular starter. This year he's neither and the team is doing so much better.
TBH I prefer him to Blackwell. But at NPC level I'm pleased Wellington have Blackwell. His combination with Bird is good enough at this level. As long as some stars are in other positions in the forwards. And there are no big weaknesses

@Stargazer Shame he wasn’t injured for longer like the whole of next years super rugby comp.
Now now. It's not his fault that's he's picked each week. And he always gives his best

@foobaNZ are you sure? I haven’t seen anything on his socials about it or anything from the Canes.
I think it is just an assumption for him (and others) as PUJ has been featured in social media posts quite a bit.
I’d like to see him leave to the Landers.
I think he’ll go North now though (unless he is injured). Two years away to make his money then think about whether he wants to come back.

Lakai signed until 2025
Brilliant news!
Just to add to this.
This has made my day, great signing for the Canes. He's been arguably the top performing rookie in the country. To see him physically dominate guys like PGS at such a raw age suggests he has a massive future in the game.
ASav and Lakai in the same loose trio will be fun to watch, I hope it happens.

Blackwell aside, you can see who's been signed on in the last column re loose forwards. This means after the Lakai announcement, one of Iose, Delany, Gibson, Howden or Laubscher will probably miss out on a contract. Unless of course Prinsep has been released.

We'd be mad to keep Princep over any of those guys. Lots of talent and potential.
Someone like Gibson probably has hit his ceiling, but he's already miles better than Princep.
We are stacked though we won't be able to keep them all in coming years.

Yeah this is where trading players with other franchises would come in handy. I feel a lot of teams are stacked in certain areas and then not so much in other areas. Would be good for Kiwi franchises and NZ to spread talent around.
For example (without taking this too seriously) the Hurricanes could trade Tyler Laubscher for Finlay Brewis who is seen as an up and coming prop and is someone that won’t get much game time for the Crusaders considering they are stacked in that department. Whereas, someone like Laubscher would fit into that Crusaders mould quite nicely. (If they needed a No8 obviously).

Good luck getting Crusaders to release any of their 416 forwards selected in black jerseys
