@Canes4life yea Proctor now is much improved from a few years ago.
My biggest issue with him was how often our attack would die when he'd be involved. Either bad passes, not passing or making a mistake. He was a ouyng nervy player but seems to have grown out of it.
Agreed, he looks stronger this year when he carries and the Lions attack has been functioning well around him. He’s more of a Conrad Smith type player where he will never bash through the line, instead has to use his guile to get through.
Big call to say he's like Conrad. Whenever I've watched he's just tried to truck it up and lost out big time

I’m not saying he’s as good as Conrad, but he has to approach the game the same way because he’s not going to bust the line with power. Proctor is a good defender but needs to work on his offensive game if he wants to progress his career any further. He’s still fairly young at 23 so he should start to come in to his own physically over the next few years and I feel like we’re starting to see that this year with the Lions. I remember it took Matt Proctor a while to mature and once he did he was one of the best centres in NZ, critical in that 2016 title winning team.

I've said it here before but B Sullivan gives me massive C Smith vibes. Similar build and a slick pass. That pass to Ardie against the Blues to win was a beaut.
Not as defensively sound as Smith (who is?) but on attack a lot to like.
Can be very hot and cold still though. He has dished up some shocking games at different levels. Hopefully it is all ironing out the wrinkles and he is learning lots because he does have something about him.
His brother needs to get away from the Blues logjam as well but The Highlanders would be his only realistic prospect to get lots of time.
One day we could see them together but the planets don't seem to align that well. -

I hope you're right. He initially kept his position after Proctor returned but after watching him in games after this one he was a bit up and down. I'm surprised just how young Proctor still is (14/5/1999) so haven't written him off yet. His attack has been a lot better in recent NPC game and his defense has always been good. Another center options is PUJ of course but seems better suited to 2nd 5. As does the young Higgins but maybe he could also play center
Higgins is the one who I think has the most potential although he may lack the speed to play center. So we could end up with three quality 2nd 5 options (including Barrett) and two competing for center. Although Patafilo looks like he could be a good enough center at super rugby level if required
Lots of option but we need at least 1 to step up and grab this spot playing outside Barrett

I doubt he would look to go into a three way battle though and possibly thinks he can learn more being around BB and Perofeta.
I would really like him to find somewhere to get time at 10 though. He is one of those players that have time on the ball and an accurate, as well as strong, boot. -

He is one of those players that have time on the ball and an accurate, as well as strong, boot. The fact Beauden will probably gap it after the World Cup means there will be an opportunity at 10 for Zarn to slot into. Wouldn't hurt spending one more year learning under Beaudy.
On the other hand if he made a shift to the Canes he will not only link up with his brother but also a player who he developed a rather handy combination with at Kings College, in Aiden Morgan, when they won the Auckland schools title.

Not sure why people keep mentioning Zarn in non Blues threads. He signed a 3 year deal late last year. He's free to move in 2025
Ok thanks. unsure why his name first came up. And with Barrett likely to head off after next year he has an opportunity at the Blues to get a starting spot anyway

@Duluth Players being released early is not foreign to Super Rugby anymore, especially if they want to move to another NZ franchise. Josh Ioane being a good example.
Hopefully this ends up being true for old mate Prinsep.

And the Chiefs did that for Bailyn.
