Best of all time?

Sir Ian McGeechan picks all-time XV - includes three England legends - Ruck
That isn't a bad list and I really like the way he considered loosie and centre combos.
Carter cancels Johnny out (have one or the other but I'd pick Carter as well), I wonder if Eales would be that rugged for the modern game, and I wonder if a French or Argentinian prop might get a look in. But not a horrible selection anywhere IMO. -

A best ever bench players would be interesting.
Not just the next best players but players who delivered off of the bench.
Obviously this would be limited to the last 25 years or so.
From NZ the likes of Beauden, Faumuina, Weepu come to mind.
Kees Meeuws was one of the original bench impact players!

Christian Cullen is the GOAT fullback.
Conrad 13, Read 8, Whitelock, Smith 9 won back to back world cups....
smith didn't debut for the AB's till 2012.....
that is a good point well made sir.

Right, Captains: In no particular order and excluding anyone before the late '70;s
Graham Mourie, Fitzy, Ritchie, David Kirk.
Ritchie & Mourie for me. Both took teams which were in a bad place and brought to the very top,

Buck?
Took over a winning team and did well. Just think Mourie & Ritche proved they could lead thru adversity as well as thru the good times.

@mariner4life Horan-Bunce that's a bit unfair against anyone

Kees definitely especially in the 1 prop replacement era. I’d put Coles in the bench impact team too.
From a non-NZ perspective, Matt Rogers for the Aussies. That blonde midget from the Boks that could play 10, wing, fullback.

@ACT-Crusader Brent Russell

1 Steven Kitshoff (SA)
2 Adriaan Strauss (SA)
3 Dan Cole (England)
4 Paul Tito (NZ) - Captain
5 Paul O'Connell (Ireland)
6 Adam Thomson (NZ)
7 Tom Robinson (NZ)
8 Duane Vermeulen (SA)
9 Finlay Christie (NZ)
10 Ihaia West (NZ)
11 Declan O'Donnell
12 ??
13 ??
14 Peter Nelson (Ireland)
15 John Gallagher (NZ)Have moved Nelson to Wing. Not a heap of ginger pace out there. Jeff Wilson could get a wing spot, but not sure he'd appreciate that at all
Edit - forgot to mention that this time prefers to play night games but could do day games in the northern hemisphere

They qualify from their playing days not how they are now so Jeff Wilson misses out

Ok, I get it now, but most of Ellis' playing days he wouldn't qualify would he?

Not in 1993 when he played first five.
I’m happy for you to come up with better options, I can’t think of any.

Yes. Greening demoted to the bench
