Interesting how well Gilbert went tonight, did well, and was helped I thought by the Clan using 9 as the playmaker and helped take pressure off him.

If someone was still against women voting now, that would be strange and we would just that person harshly. However, that was a reasonable position in the 1890s.

    Bingo.

Well, maybe one day people will say the fact that we allow people to play rugby is equivalent to not allowing women to vote. We don't know how people will view an accidental head clash being a red card in the future.

@Bones because all these cards are so good for the game aye. It’s getting ridiculous.

I agree there is a lot of cards... Players need to take some responsibility...

Because I can't see how knocking a player out cold due to your carelessness is good for the game?

Well, these are the best players in the world. They are professionals with the best conditioning and coaches, and they have taken rugby to its highest ever level. Despite all that, they cannot comply with the demands of the officials and administrators.

I take a very different lesson from that than you.

There's no where near as many cards in NH, and their refs are maybe harsher. So I'd disagree with that premise

@Bones you know I’m right because you’ve moaned about it in other threads.

I've never moaned about a clear red card being a red card, don't make shit up.

@Bones it wasn’t a clear red card though. Yellow at best. Rugby has gone soft and all of that..

    Marshall knows best.

@Machpants I would love to see a comparison between Super Rugby and NH Championship in Ave number cards per game after each rule change. Our players aren't that different and every player knows the rules and correct tackle technique yet it seems to happen multiple times per game.

Some amazing non-calls at the ruck early by BOK followed by some lightning quick decisions in the last 10.

Dickson will need to have a "reserved" sign on one of those white chairs for upcoming games.

First Highlanders try was a clear holding on just prior for mine.

Going in at head height to make a tackle and striking the other player's head isn't a clear red. Righto champ

@Bones it’s a blatant accidental head clash, if you watch it at real speed instead of an unrealistic slow motion replay, Kahui has no time to react so it’s definitely unintentional.

If that’s going to be the ruling moving forward then so be it but the refs need to be consistent, which they haven’t been because we’ve seen similar scenarios being given yellow previously.

What the fuck? No time to react...why? What did he think he was going to do, approach the guy catching the ball and have a cuppa? I have a feeling he was chasing that to attempt a tackle, wotcha reckon? The head clash may have been unintentional, but the tackle wasn't...a tackle made in a reckless and dangerous manner, it's really fucking simple.

bloody hell you can see how good Smith's pass is, getting width on runners near the line. Magnificent.

There was a passage in the first half where the Landers were dominating possession and making metres at will and Smith’s speed to the rucks and swift passing phase after phase was something else.

Not easy too because there were quite a few line breaks and the play was going wide.

Smith still head and shoulders above any other option.

Great to watch them play a game off nine which appears perfect for them. Really interesting to load up with bigger bodies as most of the time players were just lining up wherever. I like the innovation as its great for a team to play in a style that suits their strengths.
