He was approaching making a tackle on a player that only comes up to his shoulder, at that players shoulder height. He was only ever going to hit him in the head.

It's a not ridiculous opinion. It is literally how rugby operated from the 1870s to 2018. You can't be shocked that everyone hasn't moved at the same pace.

The reality is, he had ample time to get in a better position and do a legitimate smashed him bro... But carelessly / wrecklessly put himself in a position where he was only going to be able to hit him high...
