I'm sick of the comms trying to talk up MP
I wonder how long they will keep this up. All the positive talk about MP will surely slowly vanish if they continue to receive thrashing by little more than B teams. Shame they aren't in the Aussie conference.
They have had a disruptive start so maybe they need a bit more time. And to see what they can do against the likes of the Rebels. But if they receive a hiding here too what then.
Way too much negativity here for a team that is not only in its' first year but has had no chance to even get going with some shit luck around covid
Yeah, they are light on players but they know that and it will take a few seasons. They showed against a Saders side that wasn't as weakened as this Chiefs one that they can compete and build pride.
Give them a chance FFS. I find it great after umpteen years of the same small gene pool and target (ABs) of teams that we have something different.
They learned a big lesson last night in not trying too hard. They pushed things way too far at the breakdown in trying to recreate the small successes they got against the Saders and got pinged off the park.
Take away all that ill discipline and there was an OK side there. -
Can I just heap a bit of praise on the Chiefs coaches and management here. They really have found a good culture in the organisation, building on the Rennie days and taking it further.
Pre game they said it was important for the comp that they put a team out and there was total trust in the players they asked to step up (and a few really did).
To me it said that the Chiefs are a full organisation, not just 23 name players that they try to play as much as possible.
There will be times when the opposition plays better on the day but they are putting themselves in a good position to go deep and have belief when they get there. -

@booboo yeah initial thought was why... but then when you think about how they've used Bridge, I don't see why not. He hasn't looked out of place on the wing at all. In terms of skill set and style of play, he strikes me as Nonu-lite.
My point was along the lines of being particularly efficient at Super level without really having the weaponry for the next level.

@shark I think I first started when he confused So'oialo with Conrad Smith
I've been whinging about him for years. For a long time he couldn't tell brown players apart, that has now spread to all players.

@crucial I thought he was more like Frizzel...
Vai'i?
If so, that's a good sign as Frizzel has way more experience at 6.
In no way was I saying Vai'i was as good as Kaino, just that something about his play at six that reminded me of an early version and that it may be worth exploring further.

Maybe there needs to be a concussion protocol for commentators - get too many names wrong and they sub in Sumo for 10 minutes while Nisbo is off trying to remember what colour undies he has on

That will work, 10 minutes of Sumo nicknames only, then bring on TJ to get overexcited about anyone tangentiality related to Ta$man/Crusaders and underexcited about anyone tangentially related to the Blues, then bring on Laban to tell us what school everyone went to and piss off anyone not already pissed off.
