There were lots of reserve drivers in P1 I think. Times from P2 likely more representative. Hadjar is very quick but Yuki 18th seems to have the 2nd driver curse. Hopefully for his sake he can find some speed.

Another poor qualifying from LL, unless he has a drastic turnaround is there a chance he will be dropped midseason? I think Antonellis is the find of the season, that must be one of the best starts to a season by a rookie. Red Bull struggled and Norris will be unhappy with that result. Well done Oscar.

He's contracted for 2 years. And besides, the numbers don't tell you that his DRS malfunctioned so he couldn't accelerate fully down the straight. F1 really is a team sport. His car let him down today

@canefan So was Perez? Unfortunately, with F1 some drivers just don't have any 'luck' and others have loads. It's a numbers game and if you consistently fail to get points then the pressure comes on. Racing Bull do seem to have screwed over their drivers so far this year with mistakes and poor strategy. I imagine F1 is all about confidence and when you are constantly under pressure it can't be easy to focus and get that little bit extra.

‘It sucks’ – Lawson explains DRS derailed his qualifying efforts

‘It sucks’ – Lawson explains DRS derailed his qualifying efforts

Liam Lawson was knocked out in Q1 in P17 – but said after the session the DRS on his Racing Bulls car closed too early, hampering his speed.

@canefan It doesn't say anywhere it was a technical problem with the DRS, the DRS is deactivated under certain scenarios and it appears that Liam has deactivated it through his driving which is driver error.

However his team confirmed it was Lawson’s reaction to the wheelspin which caused his DRS to close. “In the tricky conditions, Liam picked up a little wheelspin on exit from turn 10,” the team’s chief technical officer Tim Goss explained, “resulting in a small throttle lift to keep the car under control causing DRS to automatically close which caused him to lose vital speed on the straight, and cost [him] the place in Q2.”

Another win for Oscar, it appears it will be a tight race between himself and Lando for the championship. Russell continues to impress and RB/RB continue to struggle. Yuki did finish in points which must make him happy. LL 16/18 which can’t help his confidence at all.

Lawson had some decent pace in his last stint. Finished 13 on the track ahead of his team mate, dropped back because of a penalty during the safety car

Russell and Leclerc having a few drs issues

Hopefully he takes some confidence from that last stint and can take it into the next round

@Duluth Yep, had some pace prior, see how he goes today. Mclaren again appear to have the speed. Of interest went to the farm supply shop this morning and a young lass behind the counter had Piastris hat on, clearly he is popular which is great.

I feel really mean when I see Tsunoda crash out and I smile...

But I really want to see Liam outscore him as often as possible. (Not personal against Tsunoda just due to the whole situation)

Now he Liam just needs to stay on the track and finish in the points... (fingers crossed)

    Fail. 10 second penalty.

Seems incredibly harsh. No way in proportion.

Max and his team have given up eh? Old Max would have given that place back to Piastri before the safety car or at least been told to by his team. Today? Fucking nothing from him or his engineer.

    Going through the motions.

Liam gets hit with a 5 second penalty that drops him to P14. Disappointing, he just needs to drive cleaner and it's a great result. Then mechanical problems cause him to quali near the rear of the field, replacing the battery will put him in the pit lane for the start of the main race
