While I don't necessarily disagree with this, but according to the Fern a first 15 AB team would arguably only have Whitelock, Jordan and possibly Reece from the Crusaders. Yet, they have been the bench mark as a team for the last few years and last night the Blues scraped home. Somebody must be doing something right. Coaching? A team being better than the sum of its parts?
Have a look at NZ Super Rugby teams of the week for the last 18 months or so. Jordan & Reece are the only Crusaders regularly making it, with S.Barrett featuring on the occasion. In contrast there are typically 4-5 players from the Chiefs & Blues each, 3 or sometimes more from Hurricanes, usually 2 from the Highlanders & rarely more than that.
I said similar the week that Chiefs outfit won in Chch, the only players I would choose from their 23 over their Blues counterparts are Reece, Jordan, S.Barrett & maybe Codie over Eklund.
Heem over Havili? Hodgman over Moody? Robinson over Blackadder? AJ Lam over Fainga'anuku? Funaki over Drummond? Choat over Matera? Lay over Bower? Goodhue over Scott Barrett?
Bridge and Sullivan you can't really compare I guess, you also have Barrett v Mo'unga which is even on paper at this level so I think you're exaggerating the truth just a wee bit.

All just peoples opinions isn't it.Come the Irish tests it will all be much the same with a couple of changes.
AB coaching groups don't normally rebuild this close to a WC,that usually comes after WC time then we see teams rebuilt for the next cycle. -

When did 'the fern' post this?
You've assigned a position to everyone on the forum and are arguing against it. My xv would have more Crusaders, so I disagree with this consensus too? Who can I complain to?
If you (or anyone else) wants to run an AB selection poll, I'll set up a subforum for it. That'll still be imperfect but it'd be something tangible

Yeah apologies for generalising. I should have known better, it's never been done on here before.

Taukei’aho is safe
Taylor despite his obvious gradual decline I think is safe tooColes? Surely they must be getting concerned about his durability? If they don't see him making it to the RWC they probably need to move on this season
Aumua is a weird one. Middling form for the Hurricanes. He hasn't really taken his chances at AB level yet. He'll probably play Test rugby this year because of his age and potential (he made a good run in the NPC 4 years ago!) but he's not safe
Eklund? Age may be an issue.. however he doesn't have many miles on the clock because a major injury ruined a couple of seasons in his mid 20's.
It seems hard to get dropped by the ABs, so I would be surprised if this selection panel went for him above an already capped player. -
If the Māori do end up playing the Irish in a midweek game then Eklund is odds on to be one of the hookers (on form). His lack of size might be a disadvantage at international level but that would be the ideal game to see how he goes against better opposition.
Coles is the big question mark. On form and fit, he adds a lot to any team he plays for but age could be catching up with him. At the moment you can't even rely on him to play 15-20 mins like Mealamu did in 2015.

If I was selecting it would be Coles or Taylor, not both of them. Coles is considerably better when fit.. Taylor is available for selection more often. It's a hard call.

He played more often than I thought:
2019: AB's: Hooker [5], Sub [4] - 9 tests
2019: Hu: Hooker [7], Sub [3] - 10 games - 4 tries (20 pts)2020: AB's: Hooker [4], Sub [1] - 5 tests - 2 tries (10 pts)
2020: Hu: Hooker [7], Sub [2] - 9 games - 4 tries (20 pts)2021: AB's: Hooker [3], Sub [3] - 6 tests - 7 tries (35 pts)
2021: Hu: Hooker [8], Sub [1] - 9 games - 5 tries (25 pts)
2021: Well: Hooker - 1 game -

For all of us that have played sport know Calf injuries are harder to mend the older you get,And are more regular occurrences ,that seems to be Coles main injuries the last couple of years.
