What an arrogant little turd. Don't want to play. Don't want to win. Well all these teams not playing proper rugby are kicking the shit out of the ABs!
ABs never used to win off purely attacking rugby, it was our defence that caused turn overs, and counter attacks that were key. Even one of the tries we scored last weekend was that a turn over try, from line out rather then defence. We used to kick more and have less possession than the other team. Kick to them and use defence to force mistakes. But now we
- keep possession but don't do anything clever with it, like say Ireland who use deception to create holes. We just fling it about, in easily read pod systems
- We kick less, and kick worse when we do
- Defend so passively we don't force turnovers anyway
So get fucked, Smith, and take your rose tinted arrogant glasses off. If you actually ran some times, then maybe our attack would be better - remember the triple threat, you turd?
In the finest traditions of The Fern that's a hell of a rant from someone who obviously didn't read the very article he's posting. Well done. Probably a candidate https://www.forum.thesilverfern.com/topic/5071/fernies-2022-nominations

It makes for better internetting when you don’t read an article and get outraged but to not read an article you’ve actually posted yourself is next level. Brilliant stuff.

@MN5 I read the article, but such was the red mist from the 'they don't play to win' comment that I may have slightly misinterpreted what Mr Smith was saying!
I’m going to choose to ignore this post and criticise you anyway. It’s the fern way

@antipodean. Spot on Aaron Smith. Perhaps the stats from the Championship tries for and against might back him up. Opposition wants us to play the rugby and force us into errors. Not too many tries against us but our ability to maintain sustained attacks and score is minimal. Players are instinctively used to the 20 phases stuff Crusaders and Blues often do in Super rugby. Same with the kick into the corner and score from a driving maul philosophy. Works regularly at super level so becomes second instinct. Might answer why we are so poor on kick chase too...

@nostrildamus Only in some people's heads.
In my head, but can you honestly say Bridgey was that much better than Nareki? nonetheless that's now long in the past, although if Otago make it to the quarters and Nareki makes a good go of it I would like to see him in the all blacks xv back three with Sullivan and Telea.
Bridge wasn't fully recovered from injury when selected for the ABs again and I take back nearly 5% of everything I ever said against him.
But it does raise the question as to what sort of coaching mastermind would select an injured winger who was never a standout in the first place.Wasn't he playing for the Crusaders when Foster selected him?
Or perhaps Foster was dumb enough to believe that, as Bridge was pretty good at Super level for the Crusaders, he'd make the grade at Test level?

At least some people are coherent with their criticism, even if I'm so frothing with rage at what foster etc had allowed the ABs to come to, that I make no sense

@gt12 Yup. Noticed the shift in tone this week from the lads. When they mention preparation what they mean is your opponents strategies and how to counter them. Ireland’s midfield diamond, sexton round the back: No answer. Boks aerial attack: took a week. Pumas spread defence: barely any kicks into space. We all knew what was coming but they couldn’t prepare for it.
You misunderstand Fozzies cunning plan - if we try to counter an opponents strengths and focus on their weaknesses, they may alter how they play and it will all be for nothing. Instead, we should play with no real game plan as then opponents will be unable to identify our strengths and weaknesses.
Well other than the weakness of having no game plan but we can disguise that with a really high error count.

He was returning from injury but not played that often, he seemed to be on the outer. He recently was interviewed and said he was underdone, not fully recovered.
I would have thought that would have been spotted by AB coaches.
Crusaders followers can fill you in on more specific details.
And it was pretty clear he was not the same as last season and not a superstar this season. -

Well, some people have said that players only say what they've been told to say, e.g. when speaking out in support of Foster, or to show loyalty to ensure they get picked. If that is the case and as Bridge had been dropped, you'd have to take what he said with a pinch of salt, wouldn't you?
And it was pretty clear he was not the same as last season and not a superstar this season.
Surely not!

I don't see any clear logic in the above sentences.
Some people say X
Therefore Y.
Not much of a convincing argument. And it was pretty clear he was not the same as last season and not a superstar this season.
Surely not!He was dropped from the Crusaders. He wasn't performing at 100%. Even when he returned from injury and wasn't an automatic selection for the Crusaders he was picked for the ABs. This suggests the AB coaching team aren't fully checking their players and/or they have too much faith in their regulars.
-
Oh, I was referring to the logic others use about players speaking out - not agreeing with it. I have no doubt Bridge means what he says. in the same way players like Ritchie & Sam Whitelock are sincere when speak so highly of Foster as a coach.
And I guess we'll never know what the Crusaders coaching staff told Foster and co. when they checked on Bridge's fitness.

Can understand the players are finding this territory of public pressure uncomfortable, but some of the stuff coming out makes you scratch your head.
Ardies response to the loosies play
“I’m not too sure,” he responded. “Do you feel like we haven’t been dominating the last couple of games?
“I felt like the loosies have been fronting up, and we’re just trying to navigate the space of a new breed of players. -
