The argument for RTS would be the cohesion argument of 10 Beaudy 12 RTS 13 Rieko
Isn't that the same argument for 10 Mo'unga, 12 Havili & 13 Goodhue/Ennor?
The problem there is Havili has been underwhelming in 2022, Goodhue speedwise looks better suited to 12 and Ennor should be nowhere near a black jersey
To be honest, it won't surprise me if Ennor makes the squad. Personally, I'd pick Bailyn Sullivan over him, but we are very thin on specialist centres with ALB injured. Rieko and...???
Jack's pace at 13 was exposed by the Reds. Alex Nankivell is probably no quicker - nor TUJ. Who else have we got? Billy Proctor?
Doesn't Leicester simply take Ennor's spot?
-
@mariner4life but can this translate to international level? I’m with you in a way but why do I keep coming back to Picamoles? Have to play with what we have. I like the Otago 8 and even PGS because of size and being I an AB environment would heighten their skills.

Hmmmm - not sure about that.
It gets discussed, but Leicester has really only started a handful of first class games at centre.
I've got Leicester in a battle for the fourth wing spot - assuming they pick one - and I'm not sure he's quite AB ready there yet. Closer than he was last year.

Yes, but with the minor differences of talent and impact.

Dunno about an Otago 8, but maybe you mean the Hawke's Bay 8, who plays for the Highlanders, Marino Mikaele-Tu'u?

Smith, Christie and Fakatava for the 3 halfbacks. All offer something different. The selection of TJP would mean Foster and co haven't learnt anything from 2021. You can't play the game at speed with him at halfback. He and Weber for the Māori.
I would probably have Weber ahead of Christie at moment, who has seemd a little indecisive at times, love his speed to breakdown etc, but I have thought a few times lately he got there and seemed a little unsure where he going etc. It could be that play has got changed or something but not something I keen on seeing, and I probably only noticed it being super critical in trying to seperat AB contenders.
Christie is behind a dominant pack. (the reason often used to not pick certain Cantabs in the past)

Hopefully Sullivan's injury isn't too serious as he would be the closest to a like-for-like replacement for Ioane. If Rieko got injured they would need to be confident in his replacement, and I don't think Ennor is that player.
There is the opportunity to select a few fringe AB midfieIders in the Māori team to see how they go.
-
@Kiwiwomble Lol. Just like a Womble

I really like Sullivan, hope he gets a run this year, seems to have a good rugby brain too.
-
@Chris-B I agree that Ennor will make the squad although his season has been underwhelming. This is more due to Foster making pathetic choices rather than form.
In my opinion, Foster's fascination with the Crusaders needs to stop, Nankivell,Tupaea, RTS/Reiko besides Goodhue are the in form midfield backs. If the Crusaders have one glaring weakness it is their midfield.

That's the big question - who is Fozzie going to trust?
I'd guess the Fern consensus (what there is of it) would probably pick Goodhue, Tupaea, RTS, Rieko and Sullivan.
But, that is very thin on experience - if Rieko does his hammy in Test 1!!!
Even though Dave Havili hasn't been playing particularly well, I suspect he's at least in the frame, because he's been there, so Fozzie's got some trust.

that's an extraordinary thing to read.
