Stead confirmed last night that Nicholls will move up to 4 and Mitchell will bat at 5. If Henry replaces Boult then it is CdG vs Ravindra for the 7 spot.

Apart from saving the first test in India I'd suggest Ravindra hasn't exactly ripped up trees. Considering his record in NZ conditions, despite his poor performance of late, I'd probably pick Colin

Yeah, Ravindra has done stuff all, Colin would have to start over him... also with Williamson missing we need as much experience as we can get in our batting against a team like South Africa.

Hope Matt Henry isn't picked in the 11, why does this bloke continued to get selected in test squads ? ...he doesn't swing it, doesn't use a slower ball or use the width of the crease, he totally relies on a seaming wicket, his bowling average is very poor, 46.

Just want to acknowledge NZBloke for this superb rant writing off Henry before the match, ensuring he goes on to take a bag of wickets.

Certainly proving to be better than just playing with 10 players - which is all his well thought through rant seemed to leave him with.

He wasn’t the only one to be fair.

Great stuff, now it's our turn to get rolled

Fricken Spark Sport. I wasn't going to shell out for this.

25 bucks for 10 days of cricket.

    Seriously, it's not expensive.

I know, it's just gets a pain switching different subs on and off.

Spark's process is easy. Sky's is deliberately more difficult.

Given Henry's impact on this wicket, I'm actually a little disappointed Rachin wasnt selected. Given current fern sledging I'm sure he would have served me a ton.

This one from Timmy, highlighted, coulda/shoulda been an 8/52 rather than 7/64. Rosco dropped the last man off Tim, a sitter in the slips, when he was on 7/52.

It would have been, at the time, second best after Paddles' 9/52.

the one on that list i remember the most vividly for some reason is Doull just swinging through the Indians. Fuck he was on that day

Any day you knock over the top 7 is incredible. Any time you knock over a top 7 including Dravid, Ganguly and Tendulkar is amazing

    Nicholls dropped.

He's like Larbo-shane with how many lives he gets.

in a "well, no shit" comment

defending 95 you just can't put down as many as SA have. Few lives given already. Desperately poor day for them so far

Some bloody good names there. Pringle, Boock and Mark Craig get a mention too. I’m genuinely surprised Paddles is only there three times though.

He features relatively more in the match figures: https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/records/bowling/best_figures_match.html?class=1;id=5;type=team

A decent day Black Caps. Hats off to the much maligned Henry for that performance. Really interesting to see where his career goes from here.

I’m actually genuinely gutted Conway went, woulda been brilliant having both of them come out on day 2.

Big day for Nicholls coming up but he is a bit of a home track hero so that works in his favour.

Still surviving in front of a decent bowling unit deserves credit, so good on him. Latham you could argue fails again against a strong team but it was hard batting out there.

The Henry result was probably beyond even the expectations of even Mrs Henry , still good on him, great effort

Pringle decided if you can't beat them (the Pakistani bowlers) with ball tampering, join them.

He sure did. I don’t blame him in the slightest for doing it.

Rigor admitted to doing it too. The old drag the ball through the gutter trick

If it wasn't for all those dropped catches by South Africa in the pork 🙂 we probably would've got rolled in the mid 90's as well... now it's up to us to make the most of it & put some really good partnerships together & get a bloody good lead on them.

I'm happy to eat humble pie, so well done sir.

    BC's should make 300 minimum from here....surely.
