if we are honest, we gave England enormous shit for turning up in Aus with a batting lineup probably better than this
Based on the SA v India series, SA's current tactic is to try and roll you for less than they got rolled for.
Agreed, will be interesting to see how we go batting on this pitch, given there is still movement. Hopefully a whole lot better!

Stead confirmed last night that Nicholls will move up to 4 and Mitchell will bat at 5. If Henry replaces Boult then it is CdG vs Ravindra for the 7 spot.
Apart from saving the first test in India I'd suggest Ravindra hasn't exactly ripped up trees. Considering his record in NZ conditions, despite his poor performance of late, I'd probably pick Colin
Yeah, Ravindra has done stuff all, Colin would have to start over him... also with Williamson missing we need as much experience as we can get in our batting against a team like South Africa.
Hope Matt Henry isn't picked in the 11, why does this bloke continued to get selected in test squads ? ...he doesn't swing it, doesn't use a slower ball or use the width of the crease, he totally relies on a seaming wicket, his bowling average is very poor, 46.
Just want to acknowledge NZBloke for this superb rant writing off Henry before the match, ensuring he goes on to take a bag of wickets.

Lol wtf Henry is just steam rolling them now
-
where all the haters gone now? where you at??
(i can scarcely believe Henry has these figures)

What's SA's lowest score against us?
this currently, was something like 140 odd

Henry currently 3-15 (7) makes me feel happier about my sun-baked ranting and raving after day five at Bay Oval
Henry taking wickets left right and centre, Blundell letting through byes (okay, I only just tuned in in time for that ball), my wild ranting is vindicated (at least for this hour, let's not double check this next week...)
-
Great stuff, now it's our turn to get rolled

with out Williamson and BJ it's got "all out 76" written all over it
-
Jamieson's locking partner Jansen to have a go at us next, would imagine he will be relishing this pitch

39.43 according to Cricnfo's live stats - though I see @nzzp makes that lower again while I've been finding the next stats;
Saw something on Wisden the other day about Stuart Broad's bowling averages throughout his career. His start was a lot worse than I remembered, which makes his later career increasingly impressive.
Stuart Broad's bowling average after...
10 Tests: 45.23
20 Tests: 40.21
30 Tests: 34.64
40 Tests: 32.26
50 Tests: 31.02
60 Tests: 31.56
70 Tests: 30.36
80 Tests: 29.59
90 Tests: 28.54
100 Tests: 28.64
110 Tests: 28.77
120 Tests: 28.80
130 Tests: 28.67
140 Tests: 27.94
150 Tests: 27.92
152 Tests: 27.80
Before his 140th Test (against West Indies in 2020), Broad's average had never dipped below 28. He's never been better.

Big hopes for Mr M Henry yet?

I think heβs gonna be our best ever.
What a player, his pies were obviously unplayable.

@donsteppa I bloody hoped so. I think he wasn't well used early on in his career, then he'd slay at domestic level if they dropped him out of the squad again. I never want to put Trent and Tim in the corner, but Henry's performance does seem to be tied to how early he gets a shot in the innings.
Love me some cricket stats, keep the good mahi up lads.
