Domestic Cricket 2021/22

Starting a thread for the domestic game this summer.
38 wickets fell in the first two days at Bay Oval, and it looked like being all over within two days. Canterbury then dug in at the end of Day 2 and on the first morning of Day 3 - Fletcher with 56 not out, and Williams 27 not out at number ten have brought Canterbury home: https://scoring.nzc.nz/#m5651d4b4-168c-4fca-be46-e2c82f876b9b
Can't be many places in the world where you can wander in for free and watch first class cricket - with current international players bowling - before and after kids cricket training. Four wickets fell during that hour alone.
The end of day two report from Stuff: https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/cricket/127008531/thirtyeight-wickets-in-two-days-northern-districts-and-canterbury-in-lowscoring-plunket-shield-thriller

FYI - these games are streamed on the NZC YouTube channel. One camera and no commentary but there for anyone interested. E.G. - right now -

In domestic cricket for the lthis seaosn and last season. NZ have been using a new 'experimental' ball from kookuburra to make it more like the duke.
It seems to cause absolute carnage during the first few days play during these October and November rounds.
38 wickets in 2 days at Mount Maunganui.

Over in Oz domestic cricket, Sophie Devine has yet another half century in the WBBL. She's also been the Queen of Super Overs this season - her approach has been what my seven year old thinks all batters can/should do - just go out and hit everything for six. (36 needed off 6? no problem! )

Next keeper in line?
I didn't realize he was so young. He might be one for the future but I think Cleaver would probably be next in line for test matches at the moment and Blundell is probably Latham's backup in ODI's.

Wow. I just looked up the scorecard
Still needed 17 in the last over, got it done with a ball to spare
Was only a small ground & great wicket to bat on... brilliant clean striking from Bracewell though

Yeah, it is a small ground. He would have probably been several times playing the same innings at the Basin. It was an amazing watch though as I was sure the Firebirds were going to lose after Neesham got out. With the help of Gibson and van Beek, Bracewell managed to keep us within striking distance and after the 15th over it actually looked like we could win with an over to spare. A few twists at the end made the game even more exciting especially when 17 was still required off the last over.

@mn5 lovely wee ground. Only about 40 in though,50 over isn't a drawcard.
Better if the beer tent was open!
I always make a point of having a stroll through there when up in the naki for work. Pretty terrifying to think what totals some international big hitters would rack up if given a chance though !
