Yeah sure was a tough watch which is to be expected with a B team out there. Tried to do too much off first phase with a green midfield combo who couldn't handle the linespeed of the Italian defence, especially Ennor. Our ball handling was also probably the worst we'll ever see from an AB team.It was only really the set piece that got us anywhere today.

- Vaa'i my MOTM.
Really? He was quite heavily involved but made a shedload of errors. I am mainly thinking, I hope to hell that Brodie's shoulder is OK or otherwise they've got Barrett or Tuipolotou on a plane.
Christie and Sotutu the best on show for me.

I think in these games we have to focus on structure and keeping it in the forwards. We know we are going to win but Dmac and Mounga trying to dance through a bunch of forwards is pathetic. Throwing it wide and getting stuffed behind the gain line was woeful. We need to learn to graft in the forwards and earn the gain line first. As Mariner said our international game suffers due to Super Rugby style. The coaches failed.
-
It has occurred to me that we are too fucking arrogant for our own good.
Teams fan across the field and tackle our unthreatening ball runners
Do we play close to the ruck and try to drag them in? Do we fuck. Fuck.you, we play with width. We're the All Blacks.
Someone goes against the plan and attacks the fringes, lo and behold...

Weber/Christie, Mo'unga, Reece, DMac.
Too many skippy, little men in the backs - and with Bridge, Ennor and Tupaea - not really any blockbusting runners for them to play off.

I have to say the set piece and forwards in general this year has been a real highlight. Plumtree is clearly doing a good job. Apart from lock we have genuine competition in every position which is fantastic. The hookers scored 4 tries, scrum let Finlay score and Ofa setup another. Shows just how woeful the backs were today.
I never played in the backs, so I don't know what goes on out there but from my couch the backs just seem a little disjointed and lacks cohesion and fluidity. Perhaps it shows just how important Smith is to the AB's backline.
One of the worst performances I have seen in a long time with turnovers and penalties conceded absolutely dire. Flush the dunny and move on.

Ref got that one wrong.
Which one?
Think it was a breakdown penalty. But TBF by that stage he was hardly doing anything right.

Ok haven't read the thread and only 70 minutes in. Three things.

How is it that everyone in the world can see Ennor isn't an international centre's arsehole, apart from Robertson and Foster?
-
How is it that everyone in the world can see Bridge isn't an international winger's arsehole, apart from Robertson and Foster?
-
Who the fuck is Dixon? Probably the worst ref performance at test level in decades.
Serious question - Has Robertson actually said Ennor is an international centre's arsehole and Bridge is an international winger's arsehole (or words to that effect)?

I wasted 2 hrs of sleep this morning watching this. The list of players who didn't make a mistake or error would be very short. Outside of Coles, no one enhanced their chances of starting against Ireland.
Worst performed on the field was a toss-up between Ennor and Dickson.
-
Just got back from a great weekend. Saw the thread and the highlights. Can't be bothered watching but I'm entirely unsurprised that certain players were shit.

Reading the thread seems I'm swimming against the tide.
Bit of a fan so perhaps had my rose tinted glasses on.
Either that, or you're all wrong and just a bunch of haterz.

Some one told me off for saying I wasn't staying up to 2am to watch Italy. I'm feeling vindicated, they're a team that ABs always look shit against cos we always play a B team with no combinations and fuck all experience. Shit games every time, just another flush the dunny.
I'm going to watch it now, with a Sunday arvo beer, just got back from the beach.

@booboo No he pushed a lot of passes, dropped ball and got pinged for wrong entry, he was busy but not very accurate, much like the entire side.
Vai'i was busy in a Blackadder way, he just wasn't accurate enough. You can't fault his effort though, part of the reason he gave away penalties is he was getting stuck into stuff.

Ennor is an AB?
Past tense but also tense with passes.

Yes all the combos were off but at least he tried. I really think we should have had one experienced lock there.

You might need something harder. The first 60-70 minutes were dire, actually the first 20-30 were hilarious (if you hate the ABs or are auditioning for ABs skill coach-going on yesterday I assume the position is vacant).

Bridge was arguably the best midfielder on the field. Oh, he was playing wing was he?
Edit: i actually think (the mighty) Quinn Tupaea is promising, just had a bad day yesterday. -
