Only one selection in that team annoys me. Am I a Fozzie fan now?
Which one?
I thought that would be obvious - Reece.
I’m annoyed too. Bridge deserves heaps more chances to play himself into form.

It's going to be a big challenge for the reserve front row. Aumua is not as strong a scrummager as Taukei'aho. The jury is still out on Bower and Tuungafasi looks underdone and has had his own problems in the scrum previously.
According to who ? I thought it was just his throwing that wasn’t as good.
-
Yeah, I thought Aumua was a strong scrummager.
Reece or Jordan.... both are quality with different strengths. Reece gets his shot this week. -
just spotted something interesting on the TRC stats page.
If you look at the top 10 players for metres carried Bridge and Valetini are the only ones that aren't also in the top 10 for defenders beaten.
EDit: Will Jordan appears in neither top 10 but is second equal on tries scored. That's Josh Kronfeld levels of try 'poaching'

He isn't a large hooker by international standards, and the Canes scrum has often struggled. I accept that's not all down to Aumua (or Blackwell ). The Boks will bring on a better front row than their starters. I'm happy to be proved wrong.

I'm glad you put those marks around the poaching. If a player has the ability to barge over the line from 5m out and scores most of his tries that way we think that's fine. But apparently having that knack of appearing at the right place and being able to run them from 50 m out consistently is a worse ability!

Is Papalili injured or just didn't make the cut this week?
I would have started Mounga ahead of BB and the TH and hooker reserves don't exactly say "set piece confidence". Bower deserves to be there after KT's fairly woeful appearance last week.
It's pretty much the best team available currently (maybe Jordan should be in the mix, but he was hardly great under the high ball either), so no complaints really.

He's injured. Foxy was on SENZ and said he was really close to being selected, but he's not quite 100% yet, and with more rugby ahead, they wanted to be a bit cautious.

@billy-tell I think Jordan was the only one of the back 3 (including Dmac) who didn't drop a high ball.
But, I think he might only have had to catch one and that without much pressure - and that one he lost forward in the tackle trying to pass pretty much immediately after.
Jordie seemed to be taking pretty much everything kicked to the right hand side.
I would pick Will because I like watching him and I think he has a massive ceiling - but, Sevu is also due another shot so I'm not hugely surprised.

I'm hoping Jordan is injured. This is going to be like after Perth again for Reece, misses the bumbling game for the ABs, comes back in when they fire again so looks better than he is, next minute we lose the RWC (hmm, I might have exceeded the Terms of Reference for this discussion).

@nepia I wondered whether that was why he'd been subbed before George, last week - but, I don't think it is. Dice's interview with Fox above would surely have mentioned if Will was injured - and he doesn't.
Is it too late for Will to jump on a plane and play in that Shield challenge?
I think that would be extremely beneficial to Will, the All Blacks and New Zealand rugby.

You know that game isn't going to happen, my Delta agents are already in Nelson, you'll be locked down in a few days.
-
@nepia Yeah - the way things are developing that seriously won't surprise me.
But, handy Mako who are fucking around unused by Fozzie in Queensland include Jordan, Lomax, Christie - and I daresay stupid Shannon will be on a plane out before the big day.

Ah crap, he's been tutae so wouldn't have minded him starting.
We're missing our big guns too - BBBR and two halfbacks better than your lucky ginga.
-
Liking the look of this team. Good to see Weber getting the nod over TJ. It is getting close to time in deciding who A Smiths understudy is going to be and I think, dare I say it, Weber is the only one looking like he is improving so more game time the better
-
@nepia Not his best game vs Waikato - that's for sure.
Your big guns are at least being used by Fozzie (or injured). We've also got Havili, Blackadder and Sevu in the former category - and a few in the latter box, as well.
In fact, it is probably fucking Fakatava's fault that we haven't got Christie! Fakatava him!
-
@nepia I've come round and actually think Reece is a quality player, smart and good vision, and cab beat a man, still a douche though (although seeing clips of abs in training and off the park he seems a good dude...but not sure I'll come round to that)
-
Good team.
I'm starting to like Foster's selections. There's a good mix of consistency, giving players a couple of games to prove themselves (or not in Bridge's case) and easing players back who've been out for a while.
He seems to be getting the best out of players who've been on the margins as well. The likes of Akira Ioane and Scott Barrett have really knuckled down and seem different players from past years. Ditto RIoane.
I'm expecting another tough game on Saturday - it's the Boks after all - but with far fewer mistakes from the AB's. Wouldn't at all be surprised to see a different game from SA. Their players are way more skilful than kick and chase and they'll do whatever they can to grab a win.

Sorry mate, you didn't watch the game very closely if yoiu didn't see Jordan drop a high kick, and throw another ball away. I would of liked him in there, but he made a few cock ups last week.
