Now that I think about it - this whole place runs on confirmation bias on basically every topic - me especially!
i've been here a while, i don't think i have seen anyone change their mind on here ever. They may concede a point every now and then
but
if there is any evidence that will back the initial assertion up they'll pile back in with "i told you so"
What are we sposed to do? Admit we're wrong? On the internet?
What??? Who even thought that shit??

@nzzp Bidwell is a massive bellend.
Doesn't make him wrong in this case, tho.

So disillusioned with NZR.
The oustanding coach in SR over a long period of time with the winning Crusaders doesnt get a look in. Their reason not enough international experience. What??
That have got it so wrong.
I'm a Cantabrian, and Razor is awesome, but if we're applying past experiences to current situations, Deans hasn't exactly provided serious confidence.

There's a lot of pontificating in this thread about process, but the main issue as far as I can tell is that we just don't rate Foster, so any process that appoints Foster is flawed.
Or,
#1 we don't understand the process so judge Foster on his results..
#2 His results...#3 ..We don't understand why he received two more years...
That's not exactly mutually exclusive with we don't rate Foster and therefore don't rate the process.

Could be an either/and/or I grant you.
I'm biased against him (because of his record and I don't know the reasons they decided he was the best choice), I don't like what I understand of the process or decision-making but mostly I just want to see better tactical acumen and I don't think he is the one to provide it and help the team play better at the next RWC. -

Deans was a seriously good coach, I think underrated because of where he coached (with the wobs). Not sure how our Australian Ferners see him, but to me he generally got the best out of the player he had, and they played at a very high level.
didn't help be coming up against the McCaw/Carter era of AB dominance with Hansen and Henry

Plus I get the feeling the Wallabies had a lot of internal admin bumfighting at the time.

it was a pit of vipers from the outside. He did well in trying circumstances. Still not convinced the way he handled JOC, Cooper and Beale was sound long term - but if they're critical to success, it's very hard to enforce rules against them.

Well he's kind of proving my point about confirmation bias with comments like this
I have to say, though, that his retention turns me off. It makes me want the team to struggle

I not sure what he's talking about? He's saying people ask him if even likes rugby, he's right dumb question. He may like rugby, obviously just not an All Black supporter is all.
'I have to say, though, that his retention turns me off. It makes me want the team to struggle and for NZR to look like fools.'
He says he wants the team to struggle to prove his point? I am an AB supporter, and if anyone is picked whether as coach or player, I want that player (coach/team etc) to go well and prove me wrong.
I will never as long as I am alive want the ABs to go badly just so I can say "I told you so" and never would I believe and supporter of any team. That is what a supporter is, someone who supports a team through thick and thin!!!
The rest are just fluffybunnies who will only ever be a part time suporter of any team!!As an example ,I was never an Akira fan, but EVERYTIME I said or posted it I said by geez I hope he proves me wrong and comes right.
And he has! -
@dan54 similarly there were some who said they would no.longer support the ABs after Henry was reappointed over Deans.
Fark I am not overly happy with most of what the Northland coaches are doing (or not more to the point) yet I still go out and support them, it's what fans do...

He is the epitome of a click bait journalist and occasionally gets bits right. I prefer journo's with a passion for the sports they report.

would someone with a herald subscription be kind enough to give us the low-down here?

"New Zealand Rugby think he is the man for the job and they've given him an early call to go on and win a Rugby World Cup. We'll get in behind and support him," Robertson told the Herald.
"It's a results-based game, we know that. In high performance sport you're constantly reviewed and judged. That's part of our positions..
"He's got to a point where they feel like he's done enough. I always knew there would have to be a point where they would have to make a call and they have done that. I understand the circumstances of making a decision before they get on the plane.
"For me, I was well aware with signing my contract that this could happen. They were never clear when it was going to be but they've made the call. I've got security for myself and my family."
Foster's reappointment cements Robertson's focus for the next two years on the Crusaders and attempting to build on his remarkable record of delivering five Super Rugby titles in as many years, but he admits the next big decision on his future will come in 2023.
While Robertson is the next obvious contender, the other part of the equation from an All Blacks perspective is whether NZ Rugby again favours promoting from within, as was the case with Steve Hansen and Foster stepping up from previous assistant roles.
"I'm working really hard at mastering my craft as a coach so the next two years is a big opportunity for me to get better for whatever opportunity comes up," Robertson said.
"Time comes round quick and we're going to have to make another decision with what's right for my career moving forward.
"It will come down to the Rugby World Cup. That's top of the job description with the All Blacks to win it. You wish Ian all the best. That's high performance sport and you plan for all the opportunities in front of you.
"My role is to create an environment that the boys love and perform. My focus has always been on the Crusaders and if the opportunity came up with the All Blacks then great that would be my focus.
"I've got an incredible organisation, coaching and management to work with and the playing group is world-class so that's exciting in itself.
"It's easy to focus on once you realise they've made a call.""

Machpants that's a succinct, truthful and respectful response from Robertson and along with his leadership skills and associated success is exactly the reason why NZR have got it wrong. NZR are so lucky he hasn't already done a runner.
