Waikato vs Wellington

@canes4life Strong looking team. I picked Waikato to win as played with my heart but I regret this

@hooroo inexperienced front row and bench looks a little thin with injuries. Good to see Tyrone Thompson back though.
Backline is looking solid at this level.
Weaker team than last week. Picked Wellington to win but if I had seen this team first
-
@winger Numia and Aumua are the only changes to the starting side but they are big losses, offset a little with Samasoni being on the bench for the ABs.
Aslong as Wellington can get parity up front they should do the business with that backline but will wait and see Waikato’s team before making full judgment.

but they are big losses,
Agree. Hopefully Numia isn't out for too long. And what about Armstrong?
Just had a look at the Lions website. Not much information on the players. Often just the DOB (or in some cases nothing except a photo). They seeem to hardly bother now
-
@higgins * cough *At least they have a team list on their website. * cough * The HBRU hasn't even bothered to put the squad list - let alone player profiles - on their website. From past experience, the Magpies player profiles will be up in the last week or so, and then removed again by the end of the year. And, of course, I'm in no way defending that Wellington lot in this post. Just to make that clear.

Totally, how can unions expect big crowds when they can’t even keep their fans up to date with what’s going on.
I used to religiously attend games at the Cake Tin but now I probably head along to a Lions game once or twice a year, if that. Just find it so much more convenient watching from home.
They need to make the games cheaper for people to attend aswell. Charging $25 for an adult ticket was probably fair enough about ten-twenty years ago when the crowds were full and the NPC had more hype around it. Tickets should be $15 max for an adult and $10 max for a child OR as already mentioned, they should move these games to a smaller venue.
Also, this is not just a Wellington problem, it’s nationwide. I have staunch Auckland / Canterbury based friends and family who say the same thing.
-
@canes4life It doesn't help that the cake tin is cavernous with afew thousand fans, no atmosphere. UK premiership clubs mostly play in 12-15k stadiums, and they fill them.
-
@machpants a small crowd at the Tin looks so bad because of the yellow seats and I agree there is no atmosphere when it’s like that.
One of the best games of footy I’ve been to was the game of three halves clash between the All Blacks/ Wellington/Canterbury at Hutt Rec. The crowd was around 10-15k and it was fantastic. Tickets were only $15 aswell. They need to bring it back.

Still no Waikato side?
Every year they are the worst at keeping their fans updated
I know they only have to name their side 24 hours a before a match. However 5 of the 6 sides that play on Sunday released their teams yesterday.
It is utter incompetence really. How can they expect fans to turn up without even knowing who is playing or any promotion.

Be interesting to see how Savea goes in the midfield, really looking forward to seeing Solo in open play.

@canes4life Interesting, would not have thought that Wellington had such a clear lead head-to-head.
-
@tim Wellington also have a head to head advantage over the Cantabs over the years aswell which would be a surprise to many.
We always win games in the round robin and then falter at the final hurdle. The joys of being a Wellington fan for all these years.

@canes4life Nice.

Been watching the womens wellington / Waikato game. Waikato the better side. Ahead 20 = 13
