Early injury in the centres, put Daly in, keep Manu for the last quarter - if that's indeed Eddie's plan?

Daly is probably the second best full back in the squad, so would expect him to switch there, should Brown be injured.

Strong squad overall, with the potential for plenty of impact from the bench.

In other news, George drops out with a bicep injury (8-10 weeks out), so Cowan-Dickie set to start on the bench. Good to have around the park, but would be a concern with any late must win lineouts.

I didn't realise that Daly had played much at full back. Good cover options on the bench now though.
-

Great utilities brought through at Beckenham obviously due to great role models... -

Ah! Didn't know you played at Becks, Bones? How long ago or are you still playing?

-

The Irish selection for this weekend is the final nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned for Schmidt ever coaching a NZ Super rugby team, let alone NZ.

Just awful.
-

Still playing when I can, although just the odd appearance for the vets etc at the moment. Wanting one more season in the 1s next season when I get more time. -

It's that 'one more season' that's the killer (where is a 'knackered knees' smiley when I need it?) -

Good on you mate. I started my excuse for a rugby career just down the road in Orpington and played against Becks a couple of times. Before your time though. Sadly.
-

Ahh as long as you're not Dover or Basingstoke then all good. -

Nope. Not good enough for either!

Nearly there - I hate the two hiatus weekends of the 6N, so childishly excited by the prospect of tomorrow's games. Predictions as follows: Ireland to prevail over Italy, but unconvincingly; Scotland to do a number on France; England to beat Wales by <10, by dint of home advantage and a better bench. If Joubert attempts to beat his 100m PB at the close of play, that will be the icing on the cake.
-

Ireland by 17-21

Wales by 10-12

France by 11-15
-

England to beat Wales by >1.

That's all I care about.
-

I am already feeling your pain Cookie. Me and a couple of mates were travelling over to the Alps the day of the Scotland v England match and timings meant that we could get to the apartment, do some beer and food shopping and then get to the bar in time for a couple of beers before the game. Of course the bloody flight got delayed, then the Gendarmerie did their impressive best to fuck up the traffic all along the route with the result that we were left trying to listen on the radio over the internet via my mate's 4G phone as we travelled through the night.

Still got some beers in though.
-

The more things change the more they stay the same.......

Good old Eddie Jones complaining about the Wales (NZ) scrum and ignoring Joe Marler (Al Baxter)

What Wales do, they play the laws very well. I'm quite upset about the way they scrummage. They scrummage illegally. They pre-engage all the time which is against the laws of the game.

What happens in a game of rugby is that they pre-engage because they don't want the contest at the start of the scrum.

They get penalised one or two times at the start of the scrum, but then they get sick of penalising them because if the referee keeps penalising them, then the referee gets criticised.

We really want to have a scrum contest on Saturday as that's an important part of the game, so we're really hopeful the referee enforces the law in that area.

So you think they've been scrummaging illegally all Six Nations?

Absolutely 100%. Terribly illegally. You're not allowed to pre-engage, that's part of the law. But they do it and they consistently do it, but they only get penalised at the start of the game because if you're Wayne Barnes or Craig Joubert and you keep penalising Wales for pre-engaging, then what will all the smart guys in the commentators box say?
